Preferred Dinner Seating With Teens

Recommended Posts

We (grayish grandparents ) will be taking the 2 April 2011 repositioning cruise to Barcelona on Liberty of the Seas accompanied by our grandsons (15 & 14). We booked RCL specifically to accommodate the kids, due their greater recreational facilities. We have previously cruised five times with Holland America, and prefer the later dinner seating, since (at least on HAL) it allows us to see the show prior to dining, thence to bed. Will our election of the second seating for our party of four conflict with evening activities offered by the RCL teen programs? We anticipate allowing the kids freedom to select several evenings "away from the old folks", but expect them to join us on about 2/3 of evening meals. Also, what is the selection of table seating sizes (seats per table) available?

If teens meet other teens, and get involved in those teen club activities, they will prefer early seating so that they can finish and go join their friends.

Shows are no problem. Most nights there are two, one timed for the main seating and one timed for second seating. Occasionally there is only one, but again, the timing is set to accommodate the traditional seatings.

Hi,

we are on the same cruise on Liberty. Our 16 year old son is currently booked with us but looks like he will have to cancel due to a school trip. We always have second seating, he eats with us some nights and we let him meet up with his new friends on others. On the nights he comes to the MDR he still has plenty of time to meet up for activities after dinner. Most of the organised teen activities tend to start aroun 10 and go on until at least 1pm.

I will miss DS if he doesn't come but the upside for me will be that I can go to bed a bit earlier instead of waiting up for him to come in!

Julie

My teens have always liked early seating. They don't go to all the shows and prefer spending the extra time with friends they have met onboard. At that age they won't be doing a lot of 'activities' it will be more of a 'meeting up' type of thing.
