OPAL8 Posted November 21, 2010 #1 Share Posted November 21, 2010 Hello Folks, I was wondering if the "going thru customs" process while boarding the ship is similar to going thru TSA at the airports. Am I allowed to bring beverages (bottles of wine, soda, etc.) onto the ship or will they make me throw it all away at the gate? Thanks.
Rare LHT28 Posted November 21, 2010 #2 Share Posted November 21, 2010 Depends on the ship they may confiscate the alcohol Yes your luggage will be Xrayed & you will have to show your cruise documents before entering the terminal. You will not have to throw away any sodas or wine
hannibal54 Posted November 21, 2010 #3 Share Posted November 21, 2010 You will go through a metal detector also. I set it off because of a knee replacement so I have to go through a wand scan.
JohninDC Posted November 21, 2010 #4 Share Posted November 21, 2010 You go through security -- essentially a metal detector -- when you embark; customs applies after your cruise. A "reasonable" amount of soda and water are usually okay; wine depends upon your cruise line (1 bottle per passenger over 21 for Carnival). Good luck!:)
Rare LHT28 Posted November 21, 2010 #5 Share Posted November 21, 2010 Hello Folks,. Am I allowed to bring beverages (bottles of wine, soda, etc.) onto the ship or will they make me throw it all away at the gate? Thanks. I see from your other posts you are sailing on Oceania The sodas & bottled water are included so you will have no need to bring those. You are allowed to bring wine & alcohol for use in your cabin. If you take the wine to the dining venues a corkage fee is charged Enjoy the cruise
