Unknotted Posted December 5, 2010 #1 Share Posted December 5, 2010 There are some stand alone sideways cabins on the Jewel Class ships that I am curious about (particularly cabins 5581 and 5081.) Can someone tell me where the door is? I am just wondering if the door sits out in the elevator lobby, or if it is in the side hallway. If in the hallway, then it is on the long side on the cabin rather than the end? Are these about the same size as other inside cabins? Are they configured differently? We just just booked two of them on the Pearl for next year and are wondering what to expect, so thanks for any info you might have (including same info for sister ships.) We've had these cabins on the GEM, and we love them. The door to the cabin is in the side hallway. These cabins are configured a bit differently, and we believe they give the appearance of more room in the cabin with the layout....but the sq footage is typically the same from what I remember. We always look for the sideways cabins when we book.

Unknotted Posted December 5, 2010 Author #5 Share Posted December 5, 2010 No rooms open directly into the elevator lobby. I didn't think so, but have never had a sideways room so I wasn't positive.
Jimbo Posted March 15, 2012 #6 Share Posted March 15, 2012 Cabin 5081 on Gem which is below the rest room by the casio. Any noise issues with this cabin? Jimbo:)

Jimbo:) Below a rest room near the Casino, I would give odds that it will be like having a cabin under the basketball court!
bakerintn Posted March 15, 2012 #8 Share Posted March 15, 2012 when you enter these cabins, you are immediately in the room versus the normal cabin where you enter into a hall way with the bathroom on one side and the closet on the other. Since you don't have this narrow hallway, the room seems bigger and there is more useable floor space for furniture rearrangement..

Jimbo Posted March 15, 2012 #11 Share Posted March 15, 2012 Here is a sideways cabin from the Gem I like the looks of it. For one person even better I bet. Jimbo:)
Rare mizLORInj Posted March 15, 2012 #12 Share Posted March 15, 2012 The sideways ones on deck 8 of the Gem looked very roomy. The doors were open as we were headed to the Blue Lagoon (just boarded--so rooms weren't occupied yet).

time2cruise1 Posted March 15, 2012 #15 Share Posted March 15, 2012 Wow, I never had a cabin with a coffeemaker :( That is because they took them out after this picture was taken. You still can request one. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk - Jim
