Keri's Cruisin' Posted December 6, 2010 #1 Share Posted December 6, 2010 Just an FYI for anyone planning to sail on the Navigator of the Seas with connecting balcony staterooms. Just off this ship on Nov 20th and had connecting staterooms 8606 and 8608 and our room steward refused to open the balcony divider.
Elkhornne Posted December 6, 2010 #2 Share Posted December 6, 2010 We were on NOS B2B right before you and we're told the same thing. They said it was a security issue??
MikeNJ1109 Posted December 6, 2010 #3 Share Posted December 6, 2010 Interesting ... wondering whether it's just a Navigator thing, or some directive from RCL corporate. We'll be on the Freedom next year, and have 3 connecting Aft staterooms (all balconies), and we're hoping that we'll be able to get the dividers open ... Merion_Mom Posted December 7, 2010 #4 Share Posted December 7, 2010 This decision always belongs to the Master of the vessel. Some captains allow the dividers to be opened; some do not.

babette95 Posted December 7, 2010 #6 Share Posted December 7, 2010 Do all ships with connecting rooms have this ability? We have connecting cabins on Radiance OTS. I wonder if it will be allowed if possible.
abhb Posted December 7, 2010 #7 Share Posted December 7, 2010 We were not allowed to open the divider on the Mariner. We really wanted to since BIL and SIL were next door.

Ships that you can open the balcony dividers: Oasis of the Seas Allure of the Seas Freedom of the Seas Liberty of the Seas Independence of the Seas Ships where it is possible to open the balcony dividers BUT it is up to the Captain of the Vessel who usually does not allow it (due to a different design of the dividers than the above ships): Mariner of the Seas Navigator of the Seas Ships where the dividers are fixed and cannot be opened: Voyager of the Seas Explorer of the Seas Adventure of the Seas Radiance of the Seas Brilliance of the Seas Serenade of the Seas Jewel of the Seas Legend of the Seas Splendor of the Seas Grandeur of the Seas Enchantment of the Seas Vision of the Seas Rhapsody of the Seas Monarch of the Seas Majesty of the Seas Note: even on ships where the dividers can be opened, there are sometimes a few cabins where the dividers are fixed. We had 5 side balcony dividers open on Grandeur sailing out of New Orleans in 2003. All Cruise Critic friends. As always, it is up to the captain, and probably for safety/security reasons, they don't seem to be as inclined to do it as they used too. It was really fun, we had a large balcony party with tons of people. Of course, many other things onboard were different back then too. :D:):D
barbie5401 Posted December 7, 2010 #10 Share Posted December 7, 2010 We always have them open on the Liberty when sailing with family but never on the Navigator, we were told also, it is because of security issues.
