San Pedro restaurants

What kind of food do you like? There are quite a few nice restaurants in San Pedro and environs. Some of my faves, in no particular order:

22nd Street Landing for seafood (you can walk from the hotel)

Mar Sel at Terranea Resort (Rancho Palos Verdes, one town over, about a 20 minute drive from the DT) for a gourmet experience or Nelson's at the same resort for good pub grub in a spectacular cliff-side setting.

Think Prime Steak house in San Pedro, or Think Bistro or Think Cafe, also in SP

Neil's for Italian in SP

Good restaurants that are a bit further afield:

Grill du Chateau in Rolling Hills (maybe a bit farther than you want to drive)

Christine's in either RH or Torrance (not sure where the line is)

Depot in Torrance

And then there's Long Beach, which is chock full of good eateries. But if you're only in town for 1 night and don't want to venture out too far, I'd stick to San Pedro or RPV.

Search this forum for posts by Wineaux...he's from san Pedro and knows the restaurants well and has a standard list of 8 or 10 places he recommends...

Personally, my favorite would be the San Pedro Brewing Company:

...for casual, good food, reasonable prices and an ecclectic menu...and a "one-of-a-kind"--not a chain...

But it really all depends on what kind of food you want, what you want to spend and what sort of experience you are looking for...

With a car, you could venture almost anywhere...

Another favorite of mine, if you are willing to drive about 7 or 8 miles each way to Long Beach, is Parker's Lighthouse...for the location as much as for the food:

But, let us know more of what you're looking for and we can come up with other suggestions as well...

We recently stayed at the Doubletree and I agree with Critterchick. We ate at 22nd Street Landing for seafood, it was very good and we did walk from the hotel. We saw the Sapphire Princess sail away and since it was dark the ship was all lit up and so pretty.

Hi there, I looked at the menu for the SP Brewing Co. It looks perfect for our CC pre-cruise dinner get together. The menu is so diverse there is something for everyone, thanks so much for the suggestion. The majority of us are at the Crowne Plaza, can we walk there?

Easily, it's right down the street, maybe a block and a half...

If you are staying at the Crowne Plaza you can walk up to 6th and Centre Street and have breakfast at Nosh (on Centre Street) Or, just a bit further up the street at the corner of 6th and Pacific is the San Pedro Cafe. Great breakfast and friendly service. Omelette and Waffle shop is great as is Pacific Diner (Pacific and 38th) but you need to take a shuttle to get to both. Rex's Cafe on Pacific and 22nd street is another fantastic option and you can walk there from the DT or shuttle from CP. Grinder is a safe bet for breakfast...it's Denny's with a different name.

So sorry to bother you guys again. Is the SP Brewing Co. within walking distance of the Doubletree? If not, do you think the hotel would shuttle their guests there?

SP Brewing is not walking distance from the DT. It is from CP but not DT. If you are going to eat there, you might want to check out restaurant.com as SP Brewing often has coupons there.

Catalina Kitchen at Terranea has a great seafood buffet on Friday nights. It is a bit pricey ($50 pp I believe) but is a great meal.

It is within walking distance of the CP. Just a few blocks. A very diverse menu. Their specialties are:

Tri-tip

Southwestern Mac and Chz

Pulled Pork

and Burgers!!

Thank you both so much. Excellent choices. By the way How about breakfast on the Queen Mary?? Is this not a good idea?

Are you talking about Sunday brunch? We ate there a few months ago and it was nice, although the live music came close to drowning out all voices. I wouldn't go out of my way to eat there, though. It's about $35pp as I recall, for the full buffet and all you can drink of some inexpensive sparkling wine.

Thank you Wineaux, you're the BEST!

Jean, that helps me a lot. Especially since I won't be there on Sunday, LOL. I did not know that they only served Brunch on Sunday. I don't know why I was thinking that they served breakfast daily. We are on the Golden 14night to Hawaii on March 30th. We are arriving on Monday the 28th & sail on a Wednesday so I guess it's a moot point. I have to say I don't mind spending $35 for brunch but I don't drink and so that probably is what the majority of the $35 charge is for. I really appreciate you setting me straight though, thanks again.
