I<3Cruises Posted December 15, 2010 #1 Share Posted December 15, 2010 Does anyone know the name of the current captain of the Solstice???
rigldbrg Posted December 15, 2010 #2 Share Posted December 15, 2010 I don't know who the current Captain is, but I hope it's the same guy who captained the ship for our sailing in August. He was not only beyond competent at his job, he was also a hoot! Definately funnier than any of the comedians on board, and I loved his afternoon announcements. OOOUUUUTTTTT! katie26 Posted December 16, 2010 #4 Share Posted December 16, 2010 Hi, our captian on the constellation was heading to the solstice after his vacation so in about 8 weeks. he was fantastic and called Captian Gaerie larson. he was by far the most visible captian i have ever seen and seemed to enutinetly care about his guests. Boatsafloat2 Posted December 16, 2010 #5 Share Posted December 16, 2010 On the 12/5 Solstice sailing the captain was Yannis Berdos. I didn't find him very entertaining but he got us where we wanted to go so no complaints.
Scotsnomad Posted December 16, 2010 #6 Share Posted December 16, 2010 He is the man who walks around the ship like he owns it and has lots of gold rings on his jacket sleeve !!!!:D Others fear to tread in his direction and hide in cubby holes !!! Despegue Posted December 16, 2010 #7 Share Posted December 16, 2010 Well, As a Captain myself, I am often mistaken for the Bellboy:D in hotels... the tips are great:p On Equinox, the captains are Capt. Bouzakis and Capt. Karatzas. I have heard however that Kapt. Kafetzis (of the Solstice) might transfer to Equinox after his current shore-leave. 2morecruises Posted December 16, 2010 #8 Share Posted December 16, 2010 Wow !!1 The Oouuuutttttt Captain currently on Solstice was also on Solstice during our May 2009 Med trip. I would think he's ready for a different ship. We need more Masters like him !!!

unfdoug Posted December 18, 2010 #12 Share Posted December 18, 2010 On my 10/06/2010 sailing it was Capt. Dimetrios Kafetzis. He was quite the character. http://cruiseradio.net/radio-shows/episode-56-live-aboard-the-celebrity-solstice/ We were both cracking up when I interviewed him. Above is the interview. Thanks for the interview! He sounds like a really neat guy and it must have been a privilidge to spend some time with him! I wish he would would have answered the question about the tank of gas. Now it has me wondering, "how far can a ship go on a tank of gas."
