smileyface1948 Posted December 16, 2010 #1 Share Posted December 16, 2010 We just took our first cruise on a HAl ship 11/26/10 and loved it so much we just booked a Collectors cruise on the Westerdam 2/18 to 3/4. We booked a guarantee SZ category. What do you think the chances of an upgrade paid or complimentary will be? Also, is there a preferred side of the ship to be on? Thanks for any advice. Linda We booked a SZ guarantee on our very first cruise with HAL in 2008 on the Westerdam. We ended up with a SY6068. The room was quite spacious and comfortable for the two of us. diane
Krazy Kruizers Posted December 16, 2010 #3 Share Posted December 16, 2010 Welcome to Cruise Critic. Congratulations on booking your next cruise. We prefer the port -- most time the ship will dock with the port side facing the port -- get to watch a lot that way. You have a good chance of getting a free upgrade or being offered an upsell. George C Posted December 16, 2010 #5 Share Posted December 16, 2010 We had a SZ guarantee on our cruise that we took a couple of weeks ago and were given a SS room, we asked about paying for a upgrade and they wanted 1200 to upgrade to a full suite.
