carebear1008 Posted December 21, 2010 #1 Share Posted December 21, 2010 We booked early saver for a cruise departing in April 2011. My question is, when do you stop being able to get OBC for the price difference? Is it no longer applicable after the final payment?
paul929207 Posted December 21, 2010 #2 Share Posted December 21, 2010 I don't think there is an absolute. It will depend on the cruise line and travel agent.

My question is, when do you stop being able to get OBC for the price difference? Is it no longer applicable after the final payment? Im assuming you booked with Carnival?? since only they have a rate named early saver. You do not get OBC if the price drops before final payment .. they adjust the price. Once you make final payment, then you get OBC .. so its only AFTER final payment. All rates before final payment you can get price drops. The rules state you can get the OBC up until 2 business days before your cruise.

Again, if you just remember that whatever category you are booked in is the one you need to match, its really not that hard to figure out. You cannot downgrade with ES, though it does not specifically say that. they say they evaluate upgrades and downgrades one by one, but thats all BS, they almost always allow you to upgrade, but not to downgrade. once you choose to upgrade, then that is what you price match. Some have the hardest time wanting to match say a IS (inside gty) to a 4A, and dont get it when they are turned down, for one thing its not the same category, secondly, its considered a downgrade. Thirdly .. if you are offered a upgrade that usually costs $120, for $20 and you take it .. say thanks instead of being upset that now you have to price match to a higher category.
