Inside Guarantee

I am looking at the Imagination at an inside guarantee. Have you ever taken a chance and been happy or extremely disappointed. It is only a 4 night cruise with my daughter who is 19 and has never cruised. We really dont need anything fancy since it is such a short cruise. I guess I really do not want bunk twins.

what would you suggest is it worth the cheap fare?

You will not get a 1A, the assignment chain would not give you a 1A.

My last one wasnt thru Carnival, but it was the last cabin aft, bottom deck, Triumph, I got off last Monday.

 

The one I did before that, solo on Ecstasy, they gave me a quad (yes by myself) on bottom deck, fairly mid ship.

 

The one before that I got a 4B, Main deck, about 5 cabins forward of the front elevator .. about the best Iv done lately.

 

My best ever was a 4E on Ecstasy .. but that was before the days of the upsell fairy.

 

The two Iv done, one thru a promo and the other thru a auction type site for cruises, both were the very worst possible cabins .. but booking them thru Carnival or a regular TA .. Iv done fairly well, no complaints.

If you get a cabin wayyy.... in the front of the ship.... you will feel the waves as it hits the ship.

 

Pay the extra money to get a window. It is your daughter's first cruise.

4 day cruises don't cost that much.

I would recommend picking your own room, something midship, maybe on Riviera deck. If the Earlysaver rate is still available, it will be cheaper with that rate than if you book as a guarantee. We got very lucky on our first cruise with an inside guarantee. Under very unique circumstances, we wound up getting upgraded, the day before sailing, to an oceanview, 6D. That doesn't really happen much anymore.

 

I have searched and searched, but can't find a definitive answer regarding your concerns about the bunk bed rooms (category 1As). Some people say that inside guarantees will always get at least a 4A, some people say that it's possible for them to get a 1A. The ones who say they might get a 1A say it's a recent change (within the last year), so many websites that say you'll get at least a 4A would be outdated, if this is true. I can't find anything on Carnival's website that says it's one way or the other. All I know is that on my recent Triumph cruise, we had a 1A, but once the solo supplement went to 200%, no more 1As sold for months and months. In fact, they removed Earlysaver extra early on 1As only, seemingly not caring that they wouldn't be able to sell them. Then, without any kind of price drop, the rest of the 1As were gone in a flash, pretty close to sailing, around the time the guarantees get their cabin assignment. Maybe just a coincidence, but it seems kind of fishy.

I would pick a cabin too. Too many areas that you can get with a guarantee are in not too good of an area.

 

Under the galley-which runs all night long.

Under lounges- Above the casino bar- which has a band that starts playing at 9pm.

under the pizza kitchen which is opened 24 hours a day.

 

being all the way forward-- too many varibles for me.

The above is per my PVP who I trust. She has a way of showing the assignment chain and how cabins are assigned and says the above is for sure. .. but no its not in writing.

 

Show me one person who has gotten a 1A .. not one right? If it were possible surely one person on CC would have reported it by now.

We've booked 4-A Gty many, many times and almost always get upgraded. Having said that, we HAVE gotten assigned to noisy cabins a couple of times, so there is a bit of suspense when you book a guarantee. As far as 1-A cabins, there are so few of them that the chances of being assigned them is slim to none. I have to agree with the others that I'd probably go ahead and select my cabin for this cruise, since it's a short one, and your daughters first cruise. If the price difference is significant, then go ahead and book the guarantee.

It seems to me that gty prices are not nearly as appealing as they used to be. I used to always get them, partly because they were nice and cheap, and partly for the thrill of not knowing what cabin I'd be in. I don't do that anymore though. If I really want the cheapest cabin price, I can find an Easy Saver cabin that is usually just what I'm looking for at a better price. But, I have to add that when I was getting guarantees, I never was assigned one I didn't like. These days it would be really foolish to book one in hopes of getting an awesome upgrade, because the chances of that are very slim.

We used to book IG cabins all the time and many times we were upgraded.....sometimes even to balconys. That being said, many times the upgrades came on "less desirable" cruises.
