SomeBeach Posted January 2, 2011 #1 Share Posted January 2, 2011 Thought I would share this article about the Cunard entry in the Tournament of Roses Parade. http://www.cunard.com/About-Cunard-Line/News-Room/Cunard-News/?art=6560
Sauer-kraut Posted January 2, 2011 #2 Share Posted January 2, 2011 Here is a quick glance at it on the parade route: I thought it was really pretty but didn't find it all that exciting.
Underwatr Posted January 2, 2011 #3 Share Posted January 2, 2011 I watched on HGTV (no commercial breaks) and the coverage there was brief. It was also very difficult to tell what message the float was trying to convey, and I was very familiar with Cunard's promotion of the float. Bigmike911 Posted January 3, 2011 #4 Share Posted January 3, 2011 Its amazing that a company will pay as much as $100K for such a brief appearance, but they do. I thought the float was nice, and an award winner (but of course the secret of the TofR parade is that all of the floats won awards.) I think it represented Cunard's Queens very well showing the upscale dressy nature of the line and of course that is the reason they are in the parade. The broadcast is seen world wide and on multiple networks in the US. It reaches a huge audience so I guess the money is worth the spend. Locally KTLA repeats the parade all day long, so as I was preparing for my New Years Day open house, I saw the float more than one time. Happy New Year, Mike. Underwatr Posted January 3, 2011 #5 Share Posted January 3, 2011 Apparently they think it's worth the spend, since the fare I've been watching is up $250 pp from last week... :)
