mytern2 Posted January 2, 2011 #1 Share Posted January 2, 2011 Any ides of what kind of coffee maker is in a balcony room? Can't go without my morning tugboat coffee, and want to be prepared. Thanks!
Ms belp Posted January 2, 2011 #2 Share Posted January 2, 2011 They provide the coffee that is appropriate for your coffee maker. We just skip a step and order from room service.
mytern2 Posted January 2, 2011 Author #3 Share Posted January 2, 2011 Thanks. Room service sounds like a plan. I tend to bring my own blend with me when traveling -kinda spoiled.
mjkacmom Posted January 2, 2011 #4 Share Posted January 2, 2011 I don't know about the Gem, but sailed the Gew a few months ago in a balcony, and there was just a hot pot to boil water.
CruiseShelly Posted January 3, 2011 #5 Share Posted January 3, 2011 Just off Gem yesterday. Balcony cabin 9656. Coffee machine looked like a Mr. Coffee type machine. We didn't use it so I didn't note brand. There were packets of reg and decaf. I suspect it was the kind already in a filter as there were no loose filters by the machine. roger001 Posted January 3, 2011 #6 Share Posted January 3, 2011 Any ides of what kind of coffee maker is in a balcony room? Can't go without my morning tugboat coffee, and want to be prepared. Thanks! Haven't been on the Gem, but on the 4 NCL ships I have been on, the balcony rooms all had a Mr. Coffee 4 cup type coffee maker, very similar to most hotel rooms. tiyana4 Posted January 3, 2011 #7 Share Posted January 3, 2011 Balcony cabins on the Gem typically have standard coffee makers (similar to Mr. Coffee as someone else said). The suites have deluxe models - Lavazza coffee machines that prepare everything from lattes, fresh brewed, espressos, etc. So depending on what cabin type you have determines what type of machine you get. Anything below a balcony, coffee must be ordered through room service.
BadSeaLegs Posted January 3, 2011 #8 Share Posted January 3, 2011 Now I just called for the Explorer that we are leaving on and was told that there aren't coffee pots in the room. I'm even more chagrined that they heve vegetarian meals but are unable to do the same for vegans. So for the money, I now have to travel with my own coffee pot and food. Got to be more careful!
