swifs Posted January 5, 2011 #1 Share Posted January 5, 2011 We are cruising with Seabourn in April and one port is Trapani. The choices for excursions are for Segesta or for Erice. We love history and want to see as much as we can. Should we take one of these two Seabourn options or should we research a local option (although we haven't found much, even on CC) that might be able to take us to both? Is seeing both logistically feasible for a day of 8-5?
bobalink Posted January 5, 2011 #2 Share Posted January 5, 2011 We were in Trapani in August. We used Romeinlimo for our excursion, with folks we met on our Roll Call. We went to the salt mines stopped for a wine tasting at Pellegrino Winery and then on to Erice. We really enjoyed our time in Erice. Stop and have a delicious pastry that they seem to be famous for. There is an aerial cable car, but we had to miss it because the line was very long and we would risk getting back to port late. I remember the captain came on the loud speaker as we were leaving port and said he had to take it very slow because Trapani has a very shallow port. The port is right in the city center. We did not visit Segesta so I can not tell you anything about it. I highly recommend Romeinlimo, as they will maximize your time in port and customize your tour so you can see as much as possible. Enjoy!
KirkNC Posted January 5, 2011 #3 Share Posted January 5, 2011 We had planned on renting a car and going to Erice for 1/2 a day and than coming back to Trapani for 1/2 a day. The first part work well, so well in fact we ended up staying in Erice the whole time. It is a very unique place, very medieval but also friendly. We had a spectacular lunch at La Pentolaccia, you can not go wrong with Erice! Kirk
