barcelona Mariott questions, other suggestions?

Hi all! Does anyone have any experiences to share about the Barcelona Marriott - good, bad or otherwise? Parents and friends are thinking of staying there, unless anyone else has a suggestion in the $200 - $250 per night range. Close to all, but not too close to the Ramblas, breakfast a plus, but not mandatory, clean and good service is a must.

Any suggestions would be very much appreciated.

First, are you talking about the Hotel Arts or the Renaissance Marriott at the airport??

I hope it is the Arts because staying at the airport would not be a good idea!

I have not stayed at the hotel but have been in Barcelona for land vacations twice. We walked near the Arts on our beach day but the rest of our sightseeing was really nowhere near it.

I always think that for a first visit being closer to Placa Catalunya is a good idea but if your parents want to be by the water and not in the middle of the city then so be it.

It is a NICE hotel!
