Cagney's for lunch or bkfst - fee or free?

Kids ages are 13 and 16. There are actually 6 of us traveling and though our suite accommodates 6 people (this would be cheapest) we prefer to spread out into 2 cabins. I do have 4 booked in the Suite room and 2 in the inside cabin across the hall. It'd be odd if we have to separate for meals....or give up Cagney's which is one of the main suite perks.

I wouldn't worry about the kids going to Cagney's especially if they are all under your booking...

This is not necessarily true. It is up to the discretion of the Hotel Director. I doubt if the request would be denied if it were young children, but it is not an automatic inclusion for those in the non-suite cabin.

It can be for a good casino customer...it can be granted to any passenger that management deems worthy. It doesn't automatically come with Latitudes status...it's management's discretion.

VIP can also vary from ship to ship. I had VIP on two ships.

Ship A

Embarked with the Suite guests

Champgne & fruit in the cabin

Breakfast and Lunch at Cagneys

Captian's coctail party

Goodies in my cabin every night

VIP tender tickets

VIP disembarktion

(Maybe more, it's been over a year)

Ship B (last month)

Champgne & fruit in the cabin

Captian's coctail party

VIP tender tickets

Let me tell you, I still tell people about the ship A experience. It was unexpected, and more special due to being unexpected.

Ship B paled in comparison.

The lunch and breakfast at Cagney's was great just because it wasn't crowded.:D

(BTW I set up the Meet and Greet on both ships for my sailing) I wish I could afford a suite

I'm planning a family cruise and I asked this exact question of NCL...I was told since the booking is under my name and I will be staying in a suite anyone under this booking will be able to enjoy the Cagney perks..no discretion needed.

Call back and you will probably get a different answer each time you call. I present information as it is given to me by the people that implement these things.

The issue you may encounter is the actual way you have to book. Unless it has changed, you have to have an adult booked into the inside stateroom, even if it is just for your two children. In other words, NCL doesn't really care who sleeps where, but they do care who is booked where.. (again.. unless that has changed recently). When you go to ask for your children to join you in Cagneys and they look and see who is booked into the inside stateroom, that is where the issue may come into play. At the front desk at Cagneys they have an exact list of who is allowed in, by cabin number, etc.

Hey Rich.. Im only replying to this so you can get maybe written verification from NCL, because I can assure you, unless this has changed, what you were told is wrong.

When I made my post, my unstated assumption was what you call "Ship A" VIP. The Ship B "VIP" isn't really VIP ...Platinum (and if I recall correctly, even Gold) Latitudes members already receive those "perks". It's only when we we've been given VIP status that we've gotten the "Ship A" treatment.

Hey ...Thanks for the concern, I really appreciate it..The scenario I proposed to NCl was that we would be in an owners suite, part of my family would be in a connecting penthouse and another part of my family would be in a connecting balcony..The concern was about the ones in the balcony. I was told since the booking was under my name, there would not be a problem..and everyone would receive the same perks including Cagney's. I asked this question while I was on the Jewel this past December and again on the phone last week..

Maybe there have been some changes......I think there have been some pertaining to the ages of childern booked in seperate cabins..

I know this is off topic, so forgive me.. I just wanted to comment that those OS's are so hard not to book once you have been in them.. LOL. We are looking at a repo cruise for 2012 and would book OS again, but we liked being on the Aft more than we did Forward. If only they had a few OS's at the Aft on the Star.. LOL

Been there , done that....:D.....like eating potato chips.......:D..bet you can eat just one...If we do the family cruise it might be in the GV..how do we top that ??...At least we won't have to worry about Cagney's..

We have a penthouse suite and an attached balcony room booked on the spirit for my family of 2 adults, 3 children because there wasn't a suite big enough for all 5 of us. I would be terribly disappointed if my husband (who is booked in the balcony room) would not be allowed suite privileges like breakfast at Cagney's. That's ridiculous - a family should be allowed to dine together no matter what.

Brockwell,

Do you have a minisuite or do you have one of the actually "A" Suites? "AA, AB,AC". The reason I ask is that I believe just a "penthouse" suite does not get the Cagney's perks. (I could be wrong). Also, unless your ship sailing is soon and is completely sold out of the upper levels I have never ran into where the rooms were sold out. For Example, the 2bdrm suite and villa (AB and A1 (I believe) respectively) would both be big enough for 5 people as I have an AB right now in my sailing and it fits all 5 in my cabin.

Edited to Say: Sorry about that brockwell, I didnt realize the penthouse suites on the Spirit were the highest ones. My apologies. As for the ship, you can always ask but I know that they will probably see it as you should have booked 2 penthouses if you wanted to be sure that everyone got the perk. Think of it this way, for the 2 or 3 people in the balcony room, they didnt pay for the privilege of the Cagneys.

JUST MY OPINION

My wife and I were on the PEARL last month. We were upgraded to the courtyard villas. HOW GOOD WAS THIS? The suite perks are all great, but the greatest of these perks were breakfast and lunch at CAGNEY'S. The service was great, the food was great, but the calm and quite atmosphere was the greatest.

Should you be able to take others---maybe maybe not. Common sense should prevail. Ask to bring pax you just met, or want to impress--NO Should family members be allowed-maybe. But golly-g folks, the children should be allowed. Common sense and wanting to do the right thing are what NCL should concider. The conceridge , butler, or Cagney's manager should make the right choise. After all, that's what they are paid for.

JUST MY OPINION,

TOM:rolleyes:

Why do you post information without checking on it --all penthouse suites on NCL ships get the breakfast and lunch perks in Cagneys or the equivalent on the Sun.

It's all a matter of personal opinion. I would hope that NCL is decent enough to recognize that not all families can fit in one room, and for those of us that are required to book two rooms we should all get the privileges of the highest category. I'm not talking about extended families or big groups, I'm talking about single families with enough children to require multiple rooms. Remember, we have to pay for 4 adults even though there are only 2 adults in our party. So to say we're not paying for suite privileges for my children is ridiculous. I suspect that those who don't agree very likely don't have young children themselves.

It doesn't really matter what anyone posting here thinks. The decision isn't ours. I hope it works out for you.

I'm continually amazed by the sense of entitlement some have. Suite perks are for folks that pay for suites. If you want your family to join you in Cagneys, book them into a qualifying suite. If you were on an airplane and were in first class, do you suppose they would bring your family/friends up for a first class meal? Not likely. Folks want to save money by booking the kids into an inside or balcony, and then expect that they should receive VIP status. There is a cost associated with receiving the perks and it should apply to all. Rather than look for a way to bring the kids into Cagneys, why not join them in the buffet or MDR?

You're right...opinions here are personal opinions. Nothing more.

In my experiences, sometimes you can, sometimes you cannot bring guests to Cagney's. That decision remains entirely upon the concierge and that hotel manager.

I suspect that those here that do not agree with your thoughts that everyone in the party be extended suite privileges are those that have never spent the money for the suite privileges!

In March my DW and I were in an OS and my kids and grandkids were in inside cabins. I paid for all fares.

Why in the world would I think for a moment that even though I paid $7000 for the OS, and only $1300 for the inside cabins, that all of us should be able to use the suite perks? I did not.

An even better question is why would you?

That was an excellent response! Much better than mine. Good job!

I'm not asking to bring my grandchildren along or even adult children. Just asking that my (young) kids are allowed to join us for breakfast in Cagneys. No big deal, just seems reasonable to me. The above poster was absolutely correct in saying it doesn't really matter what we all think because ultimately it's NCL's decision. I would be surprised if they don't allow us, but if they don't I understand and will take my kids elsewhere. I anticipate having a wonderful time regardless of what happens, and the people who get so angry about this really need to get a life!

There's no harm in asking, although those who are not booked into a suite really should not receive suite privileges.

However, if you ask and are denied, I hope you will not whine, complain, ask them to change their minds, say "well that's ridiculous," or anything of the sort. "Okay, I understand" and a smile would be the acceptable response :)
