Dolphin mall is a great place as well. Its closer to Miami I think.

and of course, right downtown Miami, a stone's throw from the ships is Bayside Marketplace. We love this place as do many other cruisers

We're from Canada as well and loved the shopping at Sawgrass. It's not near the port or airport (1/2 hr or so), but the mall can occupy your whole day and then some, it's huge. Lots of shops we can't find here and great prices.

 

There's a Crowne Plaza across the street and my kids liked the pool there.

 

I wouldn't bother with Bayside, it's mostly touristy stuff - you could finish it in a couple of hours or less if you really want to check it out. We went on our first Miami trip and weren't that impressed.

 

Not an outlet, but a nice mall is Aventura. Lots of higher end shops.

 

I've heard Dadeland has outlets, but haven't been there.
