antoniusp Posted January 10, 2011 #1 Share Posted January 10, 2011 Hulla all, Apologies if this issue has already been answered via the forum. If one takes a bottle of wine from the HAL package to say the MDR does the 18% corkage apply? Also where can I find a wine list with applicable MDR prices for the NA? Many thaks
Krazy Kruizers Posted January 10, 2011 #2 Share Posted January 10, 2011 If you buy one of HAL's wine packages -- the wine steward actually brings each bottle to the dining room table -- they are not delivered to the cabin. This is because you have choices of various wines. There is no corkage fee for any wine or champagne that you have purchased from HAL. HAL keeps changing the wines that are offered -- so the wine list that I will post here could change at any time.

Krazy Kruizers Posted January 10, 2011 #4 Share Posted January 10, 2011 Looking at my list -- I think the Navigator and Admiral wine packages have gone up in price.
Wefewee Posted January 10, 2011 #5 Share Posted January 10, 2011 Norwegian allows you to take your own wine on board with a $15 per bottle corkage fee. Does HAL have a similar rule?
ironin Posted January 10, 2011 #6 Share Posted January 10, 2011 Norwegian allows you to take your own wine on board with a $15 per bottle corkage fee.Does HAL have a similar rule? Yes. HAL allows you to bring as much wine, soda and bottle water as you wish. The corkage fee is $18.
Boytjie Posted January 10, 2011 #7 Share Posted January 10, 2011 Norwegian allows you to take your own wine on board with a $15 per bottle corkage fee.Does HAL have a similar rule? HAL allows you to bring as much wine onboard as you wish and only charges a corkage fee of $18 per bottle when you take it to a dining area, bar or lounge. There is no charge for in room consumption. NCL charges the fee for every bottle brought onboard.
2islandhoppers Posted January 10, 2011 #8 Share Posted January 10, 2011 Looking at my list -- I think the Navigator and Admiral wine packages have gone up in price. Thanks for the list, Krazy Kruizers. We are heading out on the Oosterdam this Saturday, and have been debating the cost of bringing wine on board and paying corkage, versus simply buying onboard. (We like a glass or two at dinner, but not so much in the cabin). How recent is your list? Can anyone advise if the prices fairly are current? HalFan Posted January 10, 2011 #9 Share Posted January 10, 2011 Thanks Krazy Kruisers for the wine information! Do you or anyone else know about wine shops in Rotterdam/Amsterdam and Lisbon, and southern Spanish ports? The prices there have got to be more reasonable than HAL's! DRWhit Posted January 10, 2011 #10 Share Posted January 10, 2011 Can anyone advise if the prices fairly are current? Looking at the website, it looks like the prices have gone up a bit. The Silverado Cab was $91 on line and the Rosemount Shiraz was $45. The price of the packages were up a bit as well. For example, the Navigoator 3/5 bottle packages were at $102/$171. The Admiral 3/5 packages were at $135/$228. For us, the last time we cruised, we did a wine package and were OK with it. But I would think if you can get to a local wine store before boarding, the corkage fee might be the way to go.
antoniusp Posted January 10, 2011 Author #11 Share Posted January 10, 2011 Many thks Krazy Kruisers for the detailed wine list/prices. Krazy Kruizers Posted January 10, 2011 #12 Share Posted January 10, 2011 That price list was given to me in August. About every 6 months HAL raises the prices.

Rare kazu Posted January 27, 2011 #15 Share Posted January 27, 2011 Thanks Krazy Kruisers for the wine information! Do you or anyone else know about wine shops in Rotterdam/Amsterdam and Lisbon, and southern Spanish ports? The prices there have got to be more reasonable than HAL's! I can't address the Dutch portion but as far as Portugal and Spain there are TONS of great wines. The really decent ones varied from 3 to 11 euros when we shopped. of course it depends upon the store and location. (Don't forget your $18 corkage fee if you are drinking it in public places). m steve Posted January 27, 2011 #16 Share Posted January 27, 2011 whether you drink it in the dining room or the cabin, HAL only in dining room or bars. As I look at the prices, I buy Villa Maria for about $11 so with corkage it's still a lot less than the $51 HAL charges.
taxmantoo Posted January 27, 2011 #17 Share Posted January 27, 2011 The really decent ones varied from 3 to 11 euros when we shopped. of course it depends upon the store and location. The price of the wine usually depends much more on THE WINE. Most Spanish and Portugese ports have lots of small wine stores close to the port. Their prices tend to be similar for the same wine. The location seems to matter only when in Scandinavia where the cost of wines is sometimes 2 to 3 times what they tend to be in other parts of Europe. It is not rare for a 40-50 Euro bottle of good Pinot Noir to be 100 Euro in Scandinavia. Of course, plonk is plonk wherever you buy it and the prices reflect that!
