Booking question

Hi:

I am in the middle of planning my next cruise for April 16, 2012 (10 day southern route) When would you book this cruise? I was thinking close to the end of this year but not sure.... I know that you can get better pricing as the cruise prices go up and down but the initial deposit should be when? Looking for a mid ship mini on either the carib or dolphin decks.

Thanks for your help and advise.

Teri

If you don't care where your cabin is located it's ok to wait - although I'm not sure what you gain since a good TA will always get you a lower price if the price goes down after you book.

I prefer to pick our cabin (not under the buffet or weight room etc) and know where we'll be. We did "guarantees" a few times and it turned out ok, but I've also heard horror stories, so we opted for certainty the last few cruises :-)

If you know which cruise you want to take and the price is OK, go ahead and book it now. Then watch for price drops. You might miss out on last-minute "flash" promotions after the final payment date, but the price can also go up after the final payment date and you'll be locking in your price now.

If there are specific cabins you want, you'll need to book early. On the otherhand, if you want a good deal, wait till the last minute (or at least till after the final payment date) or till the flash promotion. We've always gotten really good deals by waiting till the last minute.
