Was Continental out of line?

Just FYI...

Anyone flying anywhere in the world should be able to get their flight itinerary via Amadeus CheckMyTrip...

https://www.checkmytrip.com

All you need is your flight locator number, you can get this from your TA or airline. Just type the locator code & surname into the boxes and the full flight itinerary will show up. You can sometimes pre-choose seats via the site too (if that is available with the airline concerned).

Once the tickets are released, the number(s) will also show and you can add your FF info too.

That's a good site, but it won't work with all airlines as they don't all use Amadeus.

DL is on Worldspan, so none of those reservations show up in Amadeus. Can't speak to whether reservations made through Sabre or Galileo will show up either.

I usually fly with AF/KLM and they use the Amadeus GDS platform. With all the mergers & jv's going on in recent years, maybe Delta, Northwest, Continental & United will eventually join AF/KLM on Amadeus in order to keep continuity since they are almost completely in the same bed with each other (or heading that way)?

Here are the URLs for public access to each of these GDSs:-

Amadeus: http://www.checkmytrip.com

Galileo: http://www.viewtrip.com

Sabre: http://www.virtuallythere.com

Worldspan: http://mytripandmore.com

The Galileo and Worldspan links seem to point to the same portal, ie Travelport's ViewTrip, so it may be that those links can be interchangeably used. (Travelport now owns both the Galileo and Worldspan brands.)

Whether any particular system shows your reservation depends on whether someone has had reason to make a copy of it in that system. For example, if you book a trip on an airline whose reservations system is hosted by Amadeus through a travel agent that uses Sabre, you should be able to see your booking through both the Amadeus and Sabre systems. However, in that situation the copies of the booking may not be absolutely identical all the time, as changes made in one system can sometimes take time to queue through to the other - or sometimes never appear. Also, if your booking encompasses different airlines hosted on different systems, then using the airline's system (Amadeus, in that example) may only show you the flights that are booked on that airline, and not the flights booked on the other airline.

Sometimes you can get a full itinerary of flights on a GDS check system such as Amadeus CMT...BUT...you need to have all flights on the same locator code....even if one or more airline is not normally found on Amadeus.

For example, my cruise in 2010 was outbound MAN/AMS/SIN with KLM and returning GOA/LGW/MAN with BA....one locator code for both journeys.

This time around for my cruise in March this year, I am flying AF from MAN/CDG/EZE and BA from GOA/LGW/MAN...two locator codes - one for each direction, both available via CMT.

So far I have been lucky and only had to use the Amadeus CMT....the TA that I booked my cruise air uses Amadeus and so has the cruise line too (NCL, Costa & FOCL), the airlines that I chose to fly with (or used without a choice) have also been fine on Amadeus aswell (Emirates, BA, Iberia, KLM, AF, BMI).

I personally feel that as time goes on and more people use the GDS systems & book airlines that use the different systems, the GDS will eventually tie up so that passengers can cross use each system. Afterall having a one-stop shop is far more efficient for both the airlines & passengers......everyone singing the same song but off a different song sheet sort of thing.
