AliceS Posted February 28, 2005 #1 Share Posted February 28, 2005 Any information on Cabin E305? We have been in the Golden E425 and it was OK. What's this one like?
BetsyE Posted February 28, 2005 #2 Share Posted February 28, 2005 Alice, Sorry I don't know about your particular cabin but we had E231 which was classified as 'obstrcuted view'. The E level is where all the lifeboats are hanging. When we booked our room, the Princess person said that our window was actually between boats and the view would be fine and she was right. We had a view of a few cables and whatnot, but mostly it was not obstructed. I would imagine tho, if you were looking directly at a lifeboat the view would not be very good at all. I hope someone can answer you about your particular cabin but if not, you might just call Princess and see if they can answer your question. Rare geoherb Posted February 28, 2005 #3 Share Posted February 28, 2005 We had an obstructed view cabin on the Emerald Deck of the Star Princess on our cruise to Alaska. We were able to see a lot if we were right at the window. It was more obstructed from a distance. I'd estimate about 50 percent obstruction from a distance and you really had to get at the right angle to see well. But it beat having an inside cabin--which is what we originally booked--because of the natural light during the daytime. Plus it was really convenient to walk down one flight of stairs to the Promenade Deck whenever we saw something we wanted to look at better. West Coast Posted February 28, 2005 #4 Share Posted February 28, 2005 Any information on Cabin E305? We have been in the Golden E425 and it was OK. What's this one like? Your view will be the same as the cabin you had on the Golden. Any chance you can get the one next door, E307? - while this one is technically obstructed, it is between two life boats and you basically (except for a few lines in front), have an unobstructed view. Here's a few pics:
Jayne315 Posted February 28, 2005 #5 Share Posted February 28, 2005 I was in E306 on the Golden Princess...great location, cabin was fine...only problem was this cabin is located directly below the doors leading out to the Promenade Deck one deck down. They slammed all night....it was horrible. A friend also had a cabin a few doors down from me also complained about the noise..... I would change my cabin to another deck. The next cruise I had Cabin E301....again there was another door leading out to the deck which kids were in an out of all night! Plus when you opened the curtains people were outside your cabin at eye level. I have had bad luck on the Emerald Deck with doors. These were both so call upgrades too! I now request no upgrades to Emerald Deck! The ship is big enough to be moved! Good luck
AliceS Posted February 28, 2005 Author #6 Share Posted February 28, 2005 Thank you for the information. We will give it a go to try for 307, West Coast, but I hate to mess up another possible upgrade. We didn't mind the obstruction of the view in E425, you could look right over the life boat. Oh yes, we did have visitors one morning. I knew that could happen and just waved. They actually acted like they didn't even see us. I think Emerald deck is convenient. Thanks for the pictures. You gave me the idea for the casino credit, too. You do know your cruising. Thanks so much.
jones721 Posted April 12, 2005 #7 Share Posted April 12, 2005 My sister and I have booked cabins 420 and 423 on Emerald deck on Golden and I was very interested to read what you have written here. I too noticed that there are external doors under my cabin (423) which I wondered about the banging. Also, I thought my view would be completely obstructed (from the deck plan view) but post above says 425 was fine. How can people look in if the outside deck is one floor below? Finally, is there a lot of noise in cabins near lifts and stairs? Thanks Tracey
