Suite guests are the first to board, once the ship is ready. Nobody can give you a specific time, as that is contingent upon when the disembarkation is complete, any specialized cleaning is complete, etc. A good estimate would be between 11:30 and 12:00. We boarded at 11:45.

I don't know how well it works in Miami, but in Seattle the NCL terminal crew didn't know squat. You're supposed to meet the concierge in a special waiting room to get checked in. We were directed to the main line in the terminal. Not the end of the world. Would have been nicer to be whisked away to the concierge area though.

So make sure the folks that direct you understand you're supposed to check in with the concierge.

Big Steve has hit on an important point, make sure you are in the RIGHT line. We also where directed to the regular line (not really long, so no real huge delay). But when we got to the check in person, it was quickly noticed that we where not in the right line. She asked us to follow her to the correct spot. No line at the VIP area, checked in and got a personal escort on board passing all of those in line waiting to board.

1st stop was our cabin to drop off carry on bags even though cabins not open yet. Then escorted to Cagney's for lunch.

Great way to feel important but seeing the looks from some of the other passengers as you are led past them can leave you with mixed feelings.

Absolutely don't follow the Miami Terminal employee directions - ember you are looking for the VIP room. If it's not moved, it is just to the left of all the 'main queues'. I don't know what goes on in there, but we missed it, and it cost us quite a while because they pulled us aside at the upper level and had to send someone back for our keycards - since they are made in that room. My opinion, and I sailed on this same cruise you are on (in the owner's!) is to maximize the vacation and get there as early as reasonable (say 11:00am). Especially as a VIP...;) Read my review for more tips.

One thing that I don't feel is clear. Suite guest are not always "first" to board. Wedding parties are usually the first before anyone. Suite guest are escorted aboard by a Butler. There have been several times where when we were taken aboard we just boarded through a seperate line, but the main line was already boarding as well. I know that happened at least once on the Star and once on the Pearl, but I am sure it has happened more than twice. There also was at least once where our suite wasn't ready and the Butler simply took us to the a place where suite guest could drop off any carry on luggage and then took us to Cagney's for lunch. Our suites, on several occasions, have not been ready until the "all clear" was called for everyone. 8-)

Another thing to remember is Cagney's is open for lunch, so after the Butler takes you to your room, if you are ready for lunch, be sure and check out Cagney's or whatever the dining room is for suite guest on the Sky, as they don't have Cagney's.

For sure! - best part of welcome aboard! - and unless it got renamed after 2009, there is a Cagney's on Sky - at the far aft, upper deck, across from the bar. Don't forget the shrimp!

On the Epic there was just a corner of a main waiting area that was the "VIP area". dumb. We didn't get any escort at all. There were three wedding parties that boarded first, then we did (about 11:50) and right behind us came everyone else. I got grabbed by security before boarding because they evidently had issues reading my keycard; they asked me for my suite # which I gave them, then when I went to board I got chased, wrist-locked (really!! they grabbed my wrist), brought me back to the podium, showed me someone else's picture and said "this isn't you, is it? How do you explain this??" I offered my keycard, passport, edocs, all were refused!! DH was standing there, already cleared, ready to flip out! I calmly stuck to my guns and someone figured out what the problem was (I still don't know) and I got in line with the rest of the pax and headed for the Epic Club! No apologies, nothing!

WOW.. that is a bit rough if you ask me. I have had the problem where as the Butler took us onboard my keycard did not bring up any pic at all so we had to be escorted to the front desk for them to fix the issue. I am afraid I would have been very upset had they treated me like they did you.

We were in the Owners Suite on the Sky and here's my tips. Once inside the terminal look for the "Suite check in" sign. It was on the left hand side when we went a few months ago. If you get to the main check in with the ropes and long counter you have gone to far. We were the first ones to check in and we stayed there until 4 other couples showed up and checked in. They had water, fruit and cookies for us to enjoy. John then escorted all of us to the ship and we were the first group on. He introduced us to our butler and they escorted us to Cagneys for lunch. Have a great time in your suite! You will love it.
