sleepless Posted January 28, 2011 #433 Share Posted January 28, 2011 Friends of our were on the Allure during the holidays. They reported back that Cozumel was an area that is fenced in, and that they could not leave the fenced in area. Your pictures do not support that. Can you shed any light on their findings? Thanks. I am not sure what they mean. . . Cozumel is an area that is fenced in ? Cozumel is an Island off the coast of Mexico. . . It is part of the Province (state) of Quintana Roo. San Miguel is a town in Cozumel. Maybe she meant the a Port Facility is fenced off ? That would be normal. . . Radio ;);) .

Rare Radio Posted January 28, 2011 Author #439 Share Posted January 28, 2011 Radio,So is it walkable to Chankanaab Park and/or El Cid La Ceiba Resort? This sounds great!! Chankanaab si 2 miles south (too far for me to walk), but La Ceiba is right next store. La Cieba is not a 5Star resort, but it was designed as a Divers resort, w/many of the things that a 5star resort has. . . I would call it a 3Star. . .But WTH ? I dont want to stay there, I just want to have some food, drink, and Wi Fi . . .:) Radio ;);) .
Rare Radio Posted January 28, 2011 Author #440 Share Posted January 28, 2011 I believe they were referring to Labadee, not Cozumel. Ahh. . Labadee has a big stone and concrete wall around it with armed guards at the gate. It is for the passenger safety. There are areas of Haiti that would not be safe for cruise passengers. . . knots4crewzing Posted January 28, 2011 #442 Share Posted January 28, 2011 Hi radio, Enjoying your wonderful posts this week being snowbound here in the northeast. BTW,I don't know if you had a chance to check out 150 Central Park. I was interested if you happened to see their menu. Would like to book it when we go in May but the old menus didn't seem to appealing. I'm hoping they changed things up a bit. If you get a chance that would be great:) Enjoy the rest of your cruise. It could be the Belize Tourism Village, which it totally fenced in. You can exit and enter through guarded gates.
negrilbride Posted January 28, 2011 #445 Share Posted January 28, 2011 Thank you so much for sharing your trip eith us! May I ask what type of classes you are taking on the Oasis? Also, do you think Chankanaab would accommodate a guest who uses a motorized scooter? We will be going on the western in November with my parents and my dad cannot walk long distances. Also, did you happen to notice if there are handicapped accessible taxis?
GoodToGo Posted January 28, 2011 #446 Share Posted January 28, 2011 I am happy to see Celebrity Eclipse as she will share the pier with us all day. One day I would love to sail on Eclipse or any (Solstice Class Ship). We were able to see Norwegian Epic during our approach, and we should be able to see her “close up” tomorrow when we are in Cozumel. . . Radio . Hey Radio, Just discovered this thread - love it! Thanks so much for sharing. Have not sailed the Oasis (last RCCL cruise was on the LOS last April) - but DH and I are booked on the Allure April 10th and can't wait. We sailed on the ECLIPSE (our first Celebrity cruise) the week after Thanksgiving and it was fabulous! Love, Love, Love the ship and everything about it! Would defintely sail on her again - highly recommend it! :) Ironically, we were booked to sail on the EPIC in November but when some cruisemates we were reuniting with had to cancel - we decided to wait until later to sail on her. In October we found a great deal on the ECLIPSE and went for it - so glad we did (we've sailed 31 times and can't believe we waited so long to try Celebrity)! Even still - as odd as the EPIC looks, we still want and hope to sail on her in the near future. Smooth sailing, Debbie

retiring soon Posted January 28, 2011 #448 Share Posted January 28, 2011 Hi all! Radio ~ you've sold me on Chankanaab for my Nov. Oasis cruise! :D I love, love, love the beautiful water at Cozumel, so many shades of blue. The Epic might not be the prettiest ship but it has a lot going for it. I'll be on it in the Med in 4 months & am really looking forward to the entertainment & different dining options. Thanks for taking us along on this great cruise. ~Jo~ :)
