KatyAnn Posted January 21, 2011 #5 Share Posted January 21, 2011 Can any card with a magnetic strip open these? For instance, if I use my CC for the safe, could someone else come along with their cc and open it?
SadieN Posted January 21, 2011 #6 Share Posted January 21, 2011 Only the card that locked the safe can unlock the safe.

For instance, if I use my CC for the safe, could someone else come along with their cc and open it? This can be a problem if the person who swiped the credit card is separated by the other room occupants. DH also used his driver license and that worked with the safe. Now, if that demagnitized his DR, I don't know. A fellow passenger from my Elation Dec 2010 cruise said he carries a Walmart gift card and used that. He said it had a zero balance on it but worked on the safe. So on my next cruise, I'll get a wallyword credit card with a low balance for this purpose. Would hate to have my beloved AmEx FFM card desensitized. Hope this helps. Wish they would go back to keypads so that all room occupants can access the safe when they are alone in the room. kr8z Posted January 21, 2011 #9 Share Posted January 21, 2011 we always use the hotel key from wherever we stayed before to swipe the safe. I have a "vacation folder" with all of our itinerary and throw the key/safe opener in there. That way if I am not in the room, my husband still has access to whatever he needs from the safe. We will hide the card in the cabin so that it is available to us and that way we don't have to go looking for the person holding the card. IIRC - the safes on the Splendor use a keypad.
