janchild Posted February 1, 2011 #1 Share Posted February 1, 2011 I am hoping to get some advice on my upcoming cruise booking. Here is my situation. I want to book a cruise on the Pride on Sept 25 2011 for 3 persons, myself, DW, and my mother. It would be my mothers first cruise. I want to use the past guest cruise rate, and reserve a balcony cabin. ( I know what cabin # I want) My question is the third passenger would be my mother, who presently is recovering from a serious operation. If I place my booking now, and she is unable to go, would I get my deposit for her refunded or applied to my balance, and would I still be able to keep the same cabin. The cabin I want to book has a sofa, and is close to an elevator, which would fit our needs perfectly. Sorry if this is a dumb question, but I know all of the experts here can point me in the right direction. :)
firefly333 Posted February 1, 2011 #2 Share Posted February 1, 2011 We booked first two pax as early saver rate. We then added the 3rd pax as past guest rate, so we could cancel the 3rd pax without any penalty. You might have to ask someone with some experience, but my PVP was able to do this and it worked, as I did cancel the 3rd pax. be careful with price drops and have it notated internally, as twice they changed our 3rd pax to ES rate thinking it was a mistake?? My PVP had to change it back to past guest.
firefly333 Posted February 1, 2011 #3 Share Posted February 1, 2011 If you book all three at ES rate .. do be aware the future cruise credit (her deposit minus $50) .. is only for a future cruise .. cannot be applied to the cruise she cancelled from. serene56 Posted February 1, 2011 #4 Share Posted February 1, 2011 if you are asking about the premo cabin 6232 you may have to give it up- although you are sailing a month that is not a high sailing time. (it is huricane season so beware)
janchild Posted February 1, 2011 Author #5 Share Posted February 1, 2011 Thanks Firefly and Serena56 for your replies. I had not thought of booking a past guest rate and an early saver rate for the same cabin. I will contact my PVP and see what she has to say, although I really find it hard to work with her. (perhaps I might try to get a new PVP as well) Serena56, thanks for the info. I did not have that cabin in mind, but maybe I will see if it is available. What makes it a Premo cabin?? And yes, I know it is Hurricane season, but we (DW and I) are limited by work as to when we can schedule vacation. We were on the Pride last year leaving when we had the big snowstorm in Feb. and really enjoyed the ship (the ports-not so much!) but we take what we can get. I like no flying or hotel stays pre or post cruise.
