Hump Cabin

Going on the Eclipse - What is a good hump cabin to pick by the elevators. Thinking about 8259. Want a bigger balcony.

That stateroom has a normal sized balcony. The ones with the larger balconies are the ones on the angle -- they are 1A. You are in a 1B.

Here's a thumbnail that shows balcony sizes for the angle. This is the Port side -- it is the same for the Starboard side, on all levels.

8259 does have a larger balcony so if you can get it, go for it. All cabins on the hump that are the first on the angle have great balconies. Here's what I found on the sticky and I will paste my list below of the good cabins with larger balconies so you can check and see if any are available for your cruise.

Resort Deck: 2105, 2109, 2106, 2110

Penthouse Deck: 1547, 1552, 1601, 1605, 1606, 1610

Sky Deck: 1075, 1044, 1231, 1243, 1247, 1108, 1120, 1124

Panorama Deck: 9155, 9192, 9209, 9215, 9237, 9241, 9266, 9270, 9292, 9296

Vista Deck: 8199, 8162, 8255, 8259, 8281, 8285, 8228, 8232, 8254, 8258

Sunrise Deck: 7159, 7206, 7215, 7219, 7241, 7245, 7260, 7264, 7286, 7290

Continental Deck: 6155, 6156, 6209, 6215, 6237, 6241, 6210, 6214, 6236, 6240

Solstice

Deck - 8

Cabin # - 8259

Class – 1A

Starboard or Port Side - Port

Bed near?(balcony or bath) – bath

Quiet Cabin (With comments on problems. Note if connecting. ) – Very quiet. Connecting cabin, but connection is through the exterior hallway.

Balcony View - The first cabin on the bump - so a nice view if you lean out and look forward. Good sized balcony with two loungers and a decent table (big enough for a meal). We got a lot of sun on our recent Eastern Caribbean cruise.

Balcony Size? Normal or oversized for class? - Normal

Was wind a problem? No wind.

If an aft cabin, was soot a problem? N/A

Any specific problems with this cabin? None

Any other comments? Fantastic location - right off the elevator lobby with an automatic glass door connecting to the elevator lobby. In spite of being close to the elevator lobby, we heard no music or sounds from any parties in the Centrum.

Here's the Deck Plan for Eclipse.

http://www.celebritycruises.com/plancruise/ships/ship.do;jsessionid=0000iFXX6Z7IBz1BP41LS-C202W:12hdbcveb?shipCode=EC

Here's the Deck Plan for Solstice. They are both the same.

http://www.celebritycruises.com/plancruise/ships/ship.do;jsessionid=0000coWe-zgwNXxDtGbFVCH2McN:12hdbcuh7?shipCode=SL

Both show 8259 as having a fold out sofa and upper berth, meaning the bed is by the bath.

The first angle forward of the hump on the Port Side of all the S-Class ships has the bed by the balcony, and the first angle forward of the hump on the Starboard side has the bed by the bath. So, these deck plans appear to be correct, and 8259 does not have an angled balcony, but a normal sized balcony.

The only thing I can figure out, if you are correct, is that they could be numbered incorrectly on their official website??? Could that be the case?

We will be in 8259 on our Solstice sailing 2/27. I will post a review afterwards, but everything I've read indicates this balcony is not any different from any other on the FLAT part of the hump. ONLY the ones on the angles (C1's) are larger. 8259 is a C2 cabin.

On Solstice, 8259 shows as a 1B category, and the angles in that area as 1A.

I just checked the Sticky and 8259 is listed twice as a normal sized balcony.

http://boards.cruisecritic.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=185133&d=1297917095

You might want to re-do your copy/paste for the Vista Deck. Somehow it got messed up. The Largest balconies on the angle are as follows on that deck. I double checked, and all the other decks are correct. Don't know how the Vista Deck got turned around.

8197, 8160, 8257, 8253, 8230, 8226, 8279, 8283, 8252, 8256

I'd have to agree with this. Based on the chart cut and pasted in a post above, which I had seen on another thread in the past, I thought 8258 had one of the largest balconies. I was in 8258 on Solstice in January, and while it does have a larger balcony, and is category 1A on the hump, it is smaller than 8256.

I noticed 1106 was not mentioned as having a larger balcony and I just booked it for next year thinking it would be the same as 1108? Any in put would be appreciated.

Thanks Pat

No, we were talking about the "Largest" balcony on the angle. 1106 has a larger balcony than the normal, but a little bit shorter by about a foot or so in length.

If you look at this link/thumbnail, you can see that 1106 would be a little bit shorter than 1108. 9209/9207 in this thumbnail would be just like 1108/1106 on the Starboard side. 1106 would be just like 9207 with regard to balcony size.

1602 has a standard size balcony. There are no obstructions looking straight out. If you are at the rail looking aft, you will only see the 4 angled staterooms on the hump. Looking forward you will see support beams coming down from the pool deck (12) onto Deck 10. There's one beam every other stateroom veranda.

This stateroom is in a great location on the ship. We were in 1606. You may hear a little noise in the morning from above of chairs scrapping on the deck as the pool butlers get ready for the morning sun bathers, but it shouldn't really bother you.

Thank you very much for the cabin/balcony help wine-o,i see from the deck plans the elevators & library are close to our room.

The Deck Plans are a little deceptive. The Library is actually on Deck 10. You can't walk into that area from Deck 11 -- just look over a rail down onto the Library.

Cabin #9155-port side-near forward elevators-convenient to Aqua Spa, theater. 1st balcony on hump-largest 1a category balcony. Beds near bathroom--I prefer this configuration. Can sleep 4. Can easily seat 4 or more on balcony. Because of depth, wind was not an issue. Able to sit in shade or sun. Great stateroom attendant Sanjay...best ever. If you have difficulty walking this cabin can be a problem. It is located in the forward part of the ship. Long walks to Moonlight Sonata (dining room) and Island Cafe (buffet on 14). In January

sailed Eclipse in stateroom 9192 mirror image on portside. Beds are near balcony. Although smoke on balconys were never an issue it is good to know that designated smoking areas on Celebrity are on port side. Might be an issue is deck 6 is chosen.

Any thoughts on 1604 on S-Class? It's the last available AQ sweet 16 on Silhouette 12/12 and I have it booked right now. I know from Sandi's amazing work that it's an angled balcony (the major draw) but it appears not to be one of the much larger ones based on the list of most desirable angled balconies. The alternative is 1521 under the Persian Gardens (regular balcony, no overhang, quieter above). I'd welcome input from those in the know.

Time to obsess...

Thanks! :)

If 1604 is available, take it. The balcony is still larger than the other normal sized balconies, and only about a foot or so shorter in length than the largest. It's a very good stateroom with the bed by the balcony, if that is a concern.

Thanks Wine-O. I'm ambivalent about the bed location actually - I've never had the bed by the balcony and it seems appealing, though I note that some posters have commented that it made the room feel smaller. That said, I'm willing to flip the coin on this one and see what I think. The balcony will be irrelevant for at least 2 of our sea days, in and out of Bayonne in December.

But it's nice to hear that I have scored a bit of a coup with 1604, even if it's not as HUGE as 1606 or 1610! ;)

Hey, Kathy,

I've put a hold on 9192 for May 2012 Baltic cruise in order to get a larger balcony. In your posting it's in red-what does that mean?

Not quite sure if this is a hump room....any details on this room, not that it matters....I own it now, but would like to be prepared. There seems to be so much more to consider when you choose a room then I was aware. Looking for to the cabin crawl on the 5/2 Equinox.
