Were leaving on the first cruise after dry dock in September 2012 can not wait we have 8 people joining us 5 have never sailed before so this will be intresting. My question is there a elevator to the pasta bar my DW is in a wheel chair and we wanted to try this first, also is it easy to maneuver a wheel chair aroun on The Dream. i would appericate the info if anyone has any:cool::D;)

I use a walker and did not have a problem with the ship; however fellow cruisemates are another subject. There is an elevator at the aft of the ship and comes out at the pasta bar which is great. The staff were so helpful in the Lido, always someone there offering to help. The buritto bar is in the aft part of Lido too and is good. Some staff person always got my buritto for me. I offered to tip them but they would not take it.

Hi! Does the mini fridge have a small freezer compartment? If so, would it fit a few bottles of water to use as ice packs? Thanks in advance!

Both times we sailed on the Dream, the fridge didn't have a freezer. In fact, the fridge wasn't even really cold, just chilled.

I agree, it is very hard to find room to put anything in it. They have it stuffed with items for you to buy. However if you ask the steward he will remove the items.

Thanks for your reply. Was hoping to not have to use ice cubes for small cooler I want to carry when we get off the ship.

Are any of the ports on the Western itenerary tender ports?

Yes, Belieze is a tender port. The reef is so close and the water is shallow around the town. The tender ride is around 15-20 minutes but is a nice trip. The last time we were there while on the Carnvial Legend, it rained during the return trip but you could still see the ship in the distance & rain. We will be on the Dream in October and looking forward to Belieze. We are planning on the cave tubing excursion. Enjoy your cruise. I will try to write a review when we return in October. ;)

Thank you. 20 minutes is not too bad to tender in.

I thought I had read somewhere that they said an hour. I thought that was too long to be on a tender.

I am thinking of cave tubing in Belize as well. It looks pretty fun. We leave in November so I will look forward to your review.

Thanks Lisa,

Does anyone know if luggage express/valet is good for flights out of Tampa on the Dream or if it's just MCO?

If you are referring to the Carnival Dream, which is in Port Canaveral, that is over 2hrs away from Tampa. I don't think i quite understand your question.

How will they get your luggage from Port Canaveral to Tampa's airport?

So much info to sift through, so apologies if this has been ask/answered many times. Are the pools and slides on Dream closed during port? I see four straight days at different ports and I'm thinking we might not even bother getting off the boat (especially Belize City). We've done all these ports before and might prefer staying on board at a couple of stops to play with our young children (2 and 6 when cruising). I believe Camp Carnival is closed during these hours. Hoping not the same with swimming.

Just back from the Western Itinerary of the Dream.

Here are my $.02.

Our Cove balcony was fabulous. A guy was actually fishing from his in Belize.

Tea time is 3-4 pm on Sea days.

Chocolate Buffet is during lunch on the last sea day.

Hit the Pasta bar early in the week. Our table mates tried to go on the last sea day, and couldn't get in.

NOTHING TO DO IN BELIZE if you do not book an excursion. It is a Tendered port, and knowing now what I know, I would not have gone over.

Booked Maya Chan in Costa Maya. Fabulous place, fabulous time.

Try the Carnival Dog at the BBQ cookout on the Lanai. Yummy.

Go to the casino to get a hole punched in your sign and sail card. No line, and we each got a free lanyard!

In Roatan, get your passport stamped for a small donation (collection to put public bathrooms in the country's schools)

Also in Roatan, buy 1 lb of Honduran coffee at the back of the square. $14 per lb, but the more you buy, the more you save. We got 3 lb for $12/ lb. And boy is it ever good.

Use Luggage Express to disembark if you are flying.

We have a cove balcony booked and are excited about it. Glad you liked yours. What cabin # did you have? Did anyone ever come and tell the guy that was fishing he couldn't do that? Just curious.

The Dream is DW's and my 2nd cruise. 1st was the Sensation. On the Sensation during formal night, the hallway was packed with photographers and it was like running the gauntlet to get to dinner. The photographers made the hallways quite congested and difficult to navigate. We have early dinner and will be leaving our cabin in the mid-forward Empress deck. Is this a problem on the Dream and if so are there any secrets to avoiding them to get to dinner without hassles?

The pools are certainly open, and I cannot imagine the waterslides being closed. We stayed on the ship in Jamaica on the Magic, and the slides were open all day. I could ride them as much as I wanted. It was a great day! Belize is another great "ship to ourselves" port.

For those asking about the elegant nights, I've done both Eastern & Western on Dream. For both, the elegant nights were Days 2 & 6. If you're like me, you have no clue what day of the week it is while you're cruising. I'm lucky to know the day number, until we reach that dreaded Day 7.

Very easy to avoid. After boarding, find out which of the 3 elevators/stairways are right outside the entrance to your dining room. When leaving your stateroom to go to dinner, go down the hallway of your stateroom's floor and go to that particular elevator/stairway, even if you have to walk all the way down the ship to get there. Take the elevator or stairs to your dining room floor, and you'll never see those photographer blockades. This is the same way to avoid the greatly feared kitched blockade. Simply put: go down your stateroom floor, then head to your dining room floor, instead of the other way around.

If you're on deck 11 or 12, you may want to head down to deck 4, and utilize that floor to move down the ship. The photographers are on deck 5 & not deck 4.

Looking forward to booking as well. is the spa balcony room worth the price what is so great bessides the upgraded toiletries and acess to the spa

The upgraded toiletries are not worth much! A couple of mini bottles of Elemis products are what you would get. Unless you will spend a considerable amount of time in the Spa, to me, it's not worth the money. We stayed in a spa balcony last time we were on Dream and only used the thalassotherapy (sp) pool once. The ship was very rocky and the water in that pool was going way over the sides of the pool and it was hard to navigate in it. I know we wouldn't book a spa cabin again, but for others, it's a great thing.

We have been on Dream four times and three out of the four times we were told the cabin steward cannot remove the items from the cooler. We ended up taking the sodas out and putting them on a shelf where they could be seen by the person who comes along to check to see if we used anything and to charge us if we did.

We are going on Dream again in January for the 5th time. Dream is our favorite Carnival ship. Enjoy!

My wife and I were on the Dream last month (May) and our steward took everything out of the fridge and put them in the shelves next to the fridge. We asked him the first night and he didn't have any issues doing it. The last day of the cruise we emptied out our drinks and he put the items back in the fridge for the next people.

I was hoping the same way they get it to MCO...by bus I would imagine. I know it's a long shot but thought maybe just maybe they would offer it. Almost 1 hour to MCO and 2 hours to TPA... you never know unless you ask!

Sabhoy,

Just curious about why you would not get off the ship in Belize knowing what you know now. What do you know now? I feel that way about Jamaica and Cozumel, but never been to Belize.

The shops were overpriced stuff from the cheap flea markets like at home. We were not interested in drinking away the day at a bar, and did not want to do any of the Carnival or private tours.

I also do not like Jamaica for security reasons. Belize felt safe, but I just was not interested in any of their offerings.

Next time-stay on board.
