Another froufie esp review of my double date with destiny-feb 3 & 7, 2011

That night was ‘elegant’ night so lots of ‘beautifying’ to do. $1 off all drinks so ended up at the Cheers wine bar for a French martini (thanks for the drink coupons Ray!) - yummy and powerful (yes I am a very cheap drunk). Off to dinner to enjoy the lobster tail, prime rib and bitter and blanc for dessert.

Enjoying my ($1 off) French Martini at the Cheers Wine Bar

Evening entertainment included shows by Carl and Joe in the ‘punchliner club’ (criterion lounge back of deck 5) - we ended up going to the 10:45 pm adult show by Joe and it was a bit crude but mostly funny. Ray went off to bed and I wandered a bit. The piano bar was VERY DISAPPOINTING with Linda Wiggins at the piano - she couldn’t really sing nor did she have any rapport with her audience - Carnival I think you can do better than this!!!

Now remember I am now lucky due to the butterfly landing on me earlier that day so I head off to the casino to try my luck. Back to the Lemmings slot machine - put in my card and my $20 - nada - second $20 and things start happening and I finally get to the bonus round (pick an egg - lemmings burst out and then leap off the cliff onto a mountain getting you lots of ‘credits’). Actually it is much like a cartoon and the music is pretty cute (and addictive)......lemmings are leaping, credits are happening and I am trying to figure out what I won (penny machine) - I end up with a lot of credits thinking I won $11.18 - but in fact it’s $111.80 - a windfall for me and thanks to the lucky butterfly I cash out a happy girl.

Two Lemmings 'videos' - regular play

and bonus round! http://travel.webshots.com/video/3081978900059010061NqoWNf

I grab my cup of tea on lido, check out the night sky and the stars and then back to the cabin to relax and fall asleep to the gentle rocking of the ship!

Next up - Cozumel and a visit to Paradise Beach!

I'm loving your review so far. I'm recently off the Glory, and trying my hand at writing a review of my own, and it's reviews like yours that provide the inspiration. Looking forward th the rest, and thanks for posting!

froufie - thanks for another great review. I posted to your Valor review when I was "looking for more info" on the Valor for possible cruise #2. Well, thanks in part to your review and Mike & Tracey's adventures...we're booked :) Our first Carnival Cruise! Yippee! Can't wait.

Love reading your review...helping to make the 222 days go by a little bit faster! ;)

Love love your review again Froufie.

Glad to see that you were eventually able to get a reasonably priced Priceline hotel.

About your cabin, 2334, I saw a friend's similar cabin on the Freedom and it had a lot of vibration, in fact a constant hum, did you find this a problem on the Destiny?

Were you able to get this cabin at the old 150% solo price?

I am able to see all the photos and videos.

Once again, thank you.

I have been waiting for this review! Great so far, I can't wait for the rest of the story.

My mother and I are getting Tshirts made for our Destiny in May and I am waiting for the design from our tshirt lady now. I wanted something with a froofroo umbrella drink on it. Can you post a close up of the picture on your tshirt for me? I am curious what the design was.

Thanks so much for your kind words!

Yes it took a while to get something decent on Priceline but I was very happy with the results.

We did get the cabin for both cruises at 150% which was great! As for vibrations - I have had this cabin on other ships and have had major vibration issues (e.g. Liberty) - this time not so much - only one night when we were like 'flying' across the ocean did I hear things and 'feel' things - but then I think everyone was feeling it as well...and to be quite honest I can put up with quite a bit in order to have that cabin at the 150% price :D:D

I had emailed Desmond the maitre d prior to our arrival in regard to our Chef’s table reservations and also advised him of our back 2 back cruises and that we hoped to get a nice large table with the usual excellent service!

I'm so excited you have started to post your review, Froufie! I read on another thread that you had been working on it and I've been patiently waiting!

I see that you emailed Desmond about your Chef's Table reservations. I know that you can supposedly make reservations through John Heald's blog, but it seems easier to go straight to the maitre'd. Do you still have his email address?

Thanks!

Hi Froufie! Loving your review, I am impressed at how "technologically advanced" you are with all the links to You Tube etc......do you know who this is? We met on the beach at Grand Turk at Jack's Shack with my family (we were on the Miracle). I tried to reach you and saw your post here on CC with the last half of your email address, but couldn't remember the FIRST half....LOL....

PLEASE email me, dying to talk to you, @ puppup96@aol.com.

Diane

OHMYGOSH - I have been looking for you! Of course I remember you Diane - and your lovely family! Had a great time chatting with you guys on the beach (and that's when I got my awful sunburn - having too much fun I guess?)...and of course you will be 'prominently' featured during my Grand Turk Report! ha ha ha:D

Will definitely email you!

I am looking forward to your next installment....I am also looking for a new drink. Please tell me about your French Martini.

Thanks!....and the first time I had a French Martini was on a previous cruise - was at the wine bar and looking for something pink and yummy - the bartender lady asked me if I liked 'raspberry' - of course - so she whipped me up a 'special' drink which was a French martini - now I know to ask for one.

Not sure of the recipe but of course it includes vodka and Chambord (raspberry liqueur) and other stuff of course - I'm sure if you google it you will find some recipes!

Try it out (I find it pretty powerful but I am a very cheap drunk!)
