lindy12 Posted March 2, 2011 #1 Share Posted March 2, 2011 Will it just magically appear on the cruise lines personalizer or boarding pass, do they send an email, or don't you know until you are checking in? Is it done months or weeks in advance or only at embarking?
cb at sea Posted March 2, 2011 #2 Share Posted March 2, 2011 IF, and that's a big IF, you get upgraded, you may not know until you board and your room key doesn't work!!!, or, they may put it online ahead of time...there's really no telling! Good luck, tho!
paul929207 Posted March 2, 2011 #3 Share Posted March 2, 2011 On Princess, it can happen at any time. So people learn of an upgrade months before they sail. Other find out when they are checking in. If you get an upgrade, the new cabin would show on the cruise personalizer. You may hear from either Princess or your TA, but some people are not notified. whciv Posted March 3, 2011 #5 Share Posted March 3, 2011 When we have been upgraded it usually happens one of two ways. First, the cruise line contacted us to see if we were interested in a free upgrade. We had booked directly with the cruise line and were scheduled to be in an inside cabin. The other times we've been upgraded it just shows up on our reservation. The times this has worked was when we booked "guaranteed rooms". Basically, you book a certain category room and the cruise line guarantees your room will be at that level or better.. but they don't assign the room until almost your cruise date. We have had pretty good success on getting upgrades on guaranteed rooms. Good luck! :) Smart-Travelers http://www.*****
sssteele Posted March 28, 2011 #6 Share Posted March 28, 2011 I happened to notice change of cabin # when I got on the cruise site one day to check on excursions. Very :D exciting to see we were upgraded from inside to balcony. No mention of it was ever made by cruise line.
