lgonquin Posted March 10, 2011 #1 Share Posted March 10, 2011 We have booked two JS' on Deck 9. They are not adjoining rooms (interior door). Can the balacony divider be opened? We had this feature on Liberty, but the JS' were adjoining. Anyone?
bluebelt Posted March 10, 2011 #2 Share Posted March 10, 2011 Hello, I think we are neighbors as I am also from algon/CL area. I had a balcony stateroom several years ago on the Mariner and believe that it can opened. The divider on our balcony appeared that it could be opened. We did not have an adjoining stateroom so had no need to test it out. I hope this helps. Have a great trip! :)
wrp96 Posted March 10, 2011 #3 Share Posted March 10, 2011 It is possible for the dividers on Mariner to be opened BUT it is up to the Captain whether it is actually allowed. It is rarely allowed. You can ask but be prepared for a no.

"Ask the Captain" -- what the heck???
DonnaK Posted March 10, 2011 #5 Share Posted March 10, 2011 we've been told that the official policy on Mariner is that only balcony dividers between connecting (not merely adjacent) cabins have permission to be opened.

"Ask the Captain" -- what the heck??? I don't understand your reaction. The Captain is the Master of the Vessel. It is his decision whether to allow balcony dividers to be opened. Some consider it a safety hazard. That is their call to make.
chitowngoose Posted March 10, 2011 #7 Share Posted March 10, 2011 We were part of a group on the Mariner a couple years back. [The first season out of LA.] We had a family that had 3 or 4 adjacent balcony cabins, and they had all the balcony adjoining dividers opened. Was pretty cool. logansnonna Posted March 11, 2011 #8 Share Posted March 11, 2011 We have adjoining cabins on the Mariner for Sept. and were told the divider can be opened. The TA told us this - maybe we should call the cruise line.
