How to get VIP

Recommended Posts

I called Carnival to ask if I could PAY for VIP status. I booked an aft wrap and would prefer that to a suite but, unfortunately, you cannot pay extra for it. You HAVE to be booked in a suite, or of course, have 10 CCL cruises under your belt.

I think that just made my day. I didn't think it was possible to make John hate cc anymore then he probably already does :)

But to be fair to the OP, they obviously saw this is some youtube video (very reliable source) and they believed it. Not there fault. But its just really funny they actually asked John....

Who in the world could have possibly taken me seriously about that. Really getting tired of trying to be funny (say please dont) and than somebody actually asks John.

Maybe next time I should raise my hand and say this is a joke. GRRRR

so long as were cruising dont really care! though weve paid 2 grand for this vacation so far... it is going to be so nice to be out of the hospital for 10 days.. i love my patients dearly but oh gosh i need a vacation!

As a cancer patient I can tell you that my nurses were some of the hardest working and compassionate people I have ever met. Thank you for being a nurse and I am sorry if some on here have made you feel foolish. I believe that there are no dumb questions. It would serve some to remember that they too were new to cruising at one time and had many questions. I hope you have a fantastic cruise. Be sure to come back and give us a review.

I believe that there are no dumb questions. .

I have to disagree with you on this - there are some dumb questions and this was one of them. Just look at the lists of dumb questions that have been posted on CC at times and you will have to agree with me.

A 22 year old who takes youtube as gospel? That was seriously funny though. I have a very dry sense of humor and it drives my husband nuts. He always complains, "I can't ell when you are joking or serious." My reply is, "That's what makes it funny!!!!" He doesn't get it at all, but I crack myself up. You even told her not to do that in the same post. Hysterical!

Disagree. There are lots of stupid questions and lots of stupid people asking stupid questions.

A suite and VIP status? OMG!

I couldn't help notice that after John turned them down (nicely) he said he'd be sending our VIP wannabees a little something, something to their cabin, so they'll at least get a fruit basket or dipped strawberries for following golf's faux advice.

This thread got me thinking. Carnival is missing out on a potential source of revenue. Would any of you be willing to pay a surcharge for VIP boarding/debark if you didn't otherwise qualify? I wouldn't, but I'll bet some people would.

Southwest Airlines offers priority boarding on its flights for a small fee. I'm thinking something along those lines.

Duuuuuude! You and I can go to the blog and ask for freebies now. It would be nice to have a few of those strawberries. I'd prefer that to VIP I think...

This does work for NCL. Last January I set up the meet & greet for our group with the ships event coordinator. When we went to check in for our cruise the guy said Ohhh I need to escort you to get your cards. We were made VIP for the week, eating breakfast in the Steakhouse, priority tendors, private bridge tour by the captain. We had a great time, even though with felt a little out of place with the other VIP guests at time because we brought mostly causal clothes. Disappointing to hear Carnival does not do the same. This will be our first cruise with Carnival.
