transfer between Monte Carlo and Avignon?

We disembark in Monte Carlo and are hoping to see some of the Provence towns, maybe join some sort of tour group. We're senior seniors who'll have a bunch of luggage. Train won't be possible for us, alas.

Does anyone know of a good transfer company-- or, better yet, a good tour company that might start at Monte Carlo and do other parts of Provence for a week or so?

Thanks!

Argh! This is a tough one. Sure, you can always hire a private car/driver but it will probably cost you at least 500 Euros (this is an educated guess). You are talking about a 150 mile drive and any private transfer company needs to also calculate the return miles. We have driven this area many times (and spend months in the region) and personally love to drive ourselves. You say you are senior seniors so we are going to assume you are into your 70s (or older) which means renting a car is difficult to impossible. Assuming you cannot or do not want to rent a car you can simply Google "Monte Carlo limosine" and you will find several companies that will do the job. As to spending a week in Provence (we have rented apartments for weeks in St Remy) you again run into the problem that the best way to see Provence is in a rental car. Otherwise, you need to look for organized tours (most use buses). Hiring a private car/driver for a week will probably cost you about 700 Euros per day!

I did notice that Tauck Tours (this is a very high class company) offers one-week tours that cover Provence to Paris. These tours start in Nice so that would work well with you starting out in Monte Carlo. Tauck is expensive, but one of the best for folks that have the money and want to tour with a first-class experience.

Thank you Hlitner. We're in our early 80's (good health, but still...) We'd called Tauck straight-off (because we definitely want a first-rate tour company), but their Provence or Paris tours didn't match up with our disembark dates-- not anywhere close. Private tour and transfer will be way too costly for us, so we're hoping to learn of a tour group (bus is fine) that allows us to see some of Provence. I could scrap the idea of trying to do this in combo with a cruise, but we've come to really enjoy the ease and luxury of cruising. And since we'll be right there in Monte Carlo-- so close to areas I've always wanted to visit-- I'm hoping that something will be possible. Who know if/when we'll ever be back to that wonderful part of the planet.
