ready2travel54 Posted March 13, 2011 #1 Share Posted March 13, 2011 I've played some blackjack and want to get better. I've been using the site hitorstand. I like that it tells me on each hand if I have not played incorrectly. However, wondering if this site gives correct advice. anyone know? or can you tell where else to practice? Thanks
cb at sea Posted March 13, 2011 #2 Share Posted March 13, 2011 Many ships give "lessons"...so you'll know how to play in a casino enviroment. check it out on your ship, find out when the lessons are, and do them! Playing BJ in a casino isn't like playing "21" at your kitchen table. There are also downloadable "strategy" cards, which tell you what to do with any given hand. Lvs2Cruise2 Posted March 13, 2011 #3 Share Posted March 13, 2011 I bought the book "The Complete Idiots Guide to Gambling" a while back when I used to go to Vegas. It's an AWESOME book. It not only covers blackjack but the whole casino. Plus gives hints and tips about everything. Not sure that's the exact title.. but it's one of those "idiot" books.. but a must read! Lvs2Cruise2 Posted March 13, 2011 #4 Share Posted March 13, 2011 Just looked at that Hit or Stand site.. It's great! It also gives you the cheat sheets. Casinos do let you use them. Keep practicing with the scenerios they give you.. it's not for money but for a percentage of correct answers you get ! I think you gave me a new addicting site! Good luck! davecttr Posted March 14, 2011 #5 Share Posted March 14, 2011 Once you have downloaded the appropriate basic strategy chart you can practice at home on your own. All you need is a pack of cards as you are practising the correct move to make according to the dealers card. Just deal 2 cards for yourself and one for the dealer, play your hand and discard. I do about 2000 hands per week and now can recite the perfect strategy in my sleep for the house rules where I play :D

SailBadtheSinner Posted April 2, 2011 #7 Share Posted April 2, 2011 I can think of 2 sites that I have used. The first is at the Wizard of Odds http://wizardofodds.com/play/blackjack/ . What is good about this site is it offers options for the rules you'll be playing plus it will remind you of the correct strategy should you make a mistake. The other is at Bodog, com http://casino.bodog.com/free-blackjack.jsp where you can also play for real $. SBtS
