Carnival Magic/Dream cove balcony question

Hi to all-

We are so excited that we just booked our 4th cruise. It will be on the Carnival Magic for our family of 4 (2 adults, and 1 daughter 17 yrs and 1 son 14 yrs) for Jan 2012. Our son and daughter sailed the Conquest with their grandparents a couple years ago and loved it. This will be me and my husbands first Carnival cruise. On all our previous cruises (we've sailed RCCL,NCL,and HAL) we have booked regular balcony rooms, but after alot of research and positive reviews I ended up booking 2 seperate cove balcony rooms that are connecting. I really hope we like them.

When my kids were sailing on the Conquest with their grandparents, Carnival took down the partition inbetween their balconies. It made it an extra long balcony:) I was wondering if there was anyone that knows if this can be done on the Cove balconies or have actually done it on these type of balconies. Thanks so much.....

Here is a link with a TON of cove balcony pics. If you scroll down you can see the partitions do come open. However, do keep in mind that there is a weather tight door that is kept open during normal seas and closed when it gets rough. So, they might not be able to open the partition door if that weather door is in between your cabins since when it's open it's up against the partition door.

Not done with Cove balconies, although it has been reported once that the steward did it. You cabin has door on on side, and window next to the door. the partition on the door side it a seal that covers the door in bad seas. So it could not be opened on that side evenn if someone was willing to do so. EM

We were on the dream this past July. We had 2 cove balcony rooms. The room steward opened the door between the 2 balconies because we did not have connecting rooms, it made it very easy to go between the rooms. We never had a problem with the door needing to be closed due to rough seas.:)

You are welcome!! We always have the connecting door open when ever we get balcony rooms next to eachother.. it gives us more room on the balcony & saves us from having to go out in the hall everytime we need to get something or ask a question.....

I do not believe you will be able to open yours, because your doors will be adjacent, so the open panel would block/seal one door. I base this on our cabin 2417, which had the door on the side next 2419, the window next to 2415. We could have opened the panel between 2417 and 2415, but not the cabin on the other side. Marking similar cabin up the side of the ship, yours will not open. EM
