Goldryder Posted March 21, 2011 #3 Share Posted March 21, 2011 Over the last 2-3 weeks I have updated around 40-50 itineraries for my site...the latest being Royal Caribbean's Independence o/t Seas.....originally they had 2 x 18 night cruises, one of which went over Christmas & New Year 2011/12. Royal have cancelled both cruises, replaced them with 3 x 12 night and anyone booked on the original cruises can get their deposit back if they cancel or they can transfer their booking to an earlier 18 night cruise. The replacement 12 nighters are more expensive than the 18's. Now that is most likely to have been a revenue decision, not mechanical or safety. The other lines that have changed itineraries to something completely different to what they started as are HAL, RCI, Celebrity, Azamara, Seabourn, MSC, Voyages to Antiquity, Princess, Carnival..to name but a few. So goes to show that Costa are not the only line to alter itineraries at short notice (or no notice at all). Areas of the world affected by alterations are Israel, Egypt, Tunisia, Japan, Mexico. And come the hurricane season in May/June...you bet there will be many, many more itineraries that go up the shoot too, just as Carnival Ecstacy & Carnival Conquest did a couple weeks ago when Galveston was fogbound for 2-3 days.
