Did Craps at Atlantis last May when sailing on the Carnival Glory. Ran into a fellow passenger (Chuck) at the table along with a drunk Russian who had pissed off the dealers so badly with his blowing cigarette smoke in their faces and being obnoxious. They took it out on me and Chuck. I lost my $100 within a short time and hauled butt back to the ship.

Won't do Atlantis anymore.

How did they take it out on you and Chuck? Just curious. And if you would have won $1000 at that table would you still not go back to Atlantis?

We were there in Jan. on the Imagination. The craps table is $25 min bets. I happened to get lucky only going in for a 100 bucks. 25 pass line with 30 odds and the shooter rools 4 nines in a row and then rolled for maybe 5 minutes. I grabbed my chips and ran when he sevened out. Also had luck at the video poker and Platinum slots whih were $3 a hit. Have fun and take the water taxi. Also enjoy the $15 slice of pizza.:)

As stated when we were there in January, they had two craps tables open. BOTH at $25.00. Normally far above my pocket. But not having been there in awhile, i went in for a 100 bucks and got lucky. Could be in the height of tourist season they jack up the minimums.

I don't doubt that the only tables that were open were $25 at the time you were there. I just wanted to clarify that there are other denominations available. Your post implied all they have is $25 tables which is the situation they have at the cable beach casino.

No one likes smoke being blown in their face. But, how exactly did they take it out on you? Did the stickman call "Seven out" when a Hard 8 rolled? Or did you just hit the table at a bad time?

That's hilarious...i wanted to know the same thing and asked before I saw your post. "Did the stickman call "Seven out" when a Hard 8 rolled?" I can't stop laughing. Greatest comeback in this section ever. LOL! :p

Speaking about the Bahamas... this infoi goes back forty years, but apparently "plus ca change, plus c'est la meme chose".

Wasn't a crap shooter back then, but the blackjack rules were abysmal (double on hard 9,10,11 only and no DAS). Besides that, the tables were arranged by pairs in a "V" shape. The opening o the "V" was at the pit. at the point of the V was a stool on which a pit person sat scrutinizing every move of every player. Often making a snide remark or two.

Not a pleasant experience. Truth be told, my impression of the Bahamas was that the local residents had the attitude of "Hey, mon, give me your money and go home!" At first I had thought it was a racial issue (remember we're talking about the '70s) until we were sitting around talking to a couple at our hotel who happened to be African-Americans and they said it was the same to them - not based n color at all!

Haven't been back to the Bahamas since, and not in a hurry to do so in the future. Many great islands in the Caribbean with great people.

Obligatory OT - next cruise is four months from today... 17 day TA - lots of casino time!

I definitely understand noone liking smoke blown in their face. I was a smoker at the time and even excused myself from the table to go sit down by a empty slot machine to smoke a cigarette then went back to the table.

They definitely did not want to be there and did not want us there either. Very stiff, stern and all business. I guess I had gotten used to the ships dealers at least talking to us a tiny bit.

The table was definitely at a bad time. I go with the attitude that I am going to lose it eventually, but let me have some fun doing it. There was no fun at Atlantis.

Hey Andy,

We first went to the Bahamas in 1970 (When Merv Griffin owned the casinos on Paridise Island) and i remember the stand y'all was talking about by the craps tables. It reminded me of a lifeguard stand at the beach. He also had a stick in his hand similar to the stick at the craps table. Also at that time they did not have vans for taxis. They had station wagons. It was a _____ riding in the spare tire seat with the rear window open suckin in all the fumes from the exhaust. The people were friendly then but when they got their independence in '73 their attitude also became INDEPENDENT. Very blantant and nasty. Don't bother me mon just leave the tip. Attendence fell in the islands. So the goverment set up a school for them saying hey look . This is our bread and butter. Y'all have to be nice to the tourists. It did NOT work. That's when they added the gratuity to the bill. We go the the Bahamas once in awhile and i have to say they heve grown up as far as their attitude is towards their bread and butter. Have not come across one nasty incident in any of our latest ventures. I am looking forward to the new HUGE casino that is being built over by the old Casino Beach area. Hope it gives Paradise a run for it's money. Maybe they will lower their minimums at the tables.:D Shalom from near Miami Beach. (Just kiddin :))
