Oh my...this is going to get ugly... *closes eyes*

LOL:D, I hope not....

If we stay focused on keeping this a thread about peoples experiences in casino, either on the cruise ship or land, and not hijack the thread and talk about tipping the dealers, then everything will be okay.

There are many other threads where that subject has been beat to death im sure. So lets keep this one clean and positive.:p

Happy cruising to all!

IF someone were to throw me a chip or chips for a nice roll, i would just toss them to the dealer and say thanks.:)

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO evergladesgator: Saw your letter to Frank Scoblete. It asked a good question. He must have thought it was good too since he gave you a month complimentary membership to the Golden Touch website for one month. People, he did sign with his Cruise Critic screen name.

Yes, and I thought that was hilarious. :D

Never understood that mentality. The shooter was able to make bets. Just because they did not have the b*lls or bankroll to make bigger bets why should other players tip them? Tip the dealers, they are the ones that are working. When the high rollers go out to eat should they tip another diner, or should they tip the wait staff? When they go out drinking, should they tip the bartender or cocktail waitress or should they tip another drinker??

I see your point and agree with this. I can remember one time when I was playing don't pass (which is about 100 percent of the time) and I was winning like crazy, four figures, I decided to color up and leave the table and one big mouth player said to me as I was about to leave, "Well what about us, we were the ones that rolled the dice, you dark sider?" right after I gave tips to the dealers. He said it with an OBVIOUS sarcastic tone being the sore loser he is. I took the high road and smiled and walked away. :p

I don't know... If I am at a table and someone has a monster roll, why wouldn't I tip them? They threw the dice and won me a bunch of money. I tip the dealers as I play and when I leave, but if someone makes me a bunch of money I am not opposed to chucking a tip to them. I had one young gal on a cruise ship that came to the table and announced she had just gotten engaged. She began shooting and must have made four or five 4's in a row... seemed she could do no wrong. She kept putting single odds down and I kept telling her to put more... but she didn't have the cash. Well after the the 4's I finally decided to drop the extra odds on her bet and she threw the point next... it only cost me $5 she got $15 from it (point was a 10) and I think I walked away with about $1500... Seemed fair to me :D

And yes the dealers got tips too.... MrCO9.. your the dealer... tell me what you think the "best" method for craps tips you have seen is? Hardway bets are ok.. but don't win as often as I'd like. I normally put down a pass bet and back it up with odds.... (which on a $5 table is normally a $3 bet...) but if there is a way the dealers perfer.. then I am all ears...

I asked this same question to the dealers on my last cruise in March, and they all said they would just like to be in the game rather then a tip when I cashed out. We had a great time and everyone had fun.

I did have a couple good rolls and had one guy feeding me nickles, I put them on YO for the boys and hit two times in one session. They were happy.

The rest of the cruise I flipped to the dark side and tipped when I cashed.

I agree with MrCo9 on tipping. The dealers are working, and the miserable salaries they get from the casino needs to be added to by us, the recipient of the service. As for the other players? No! They are not there to serve us, and the fact that they have a good roll doesn't make any change in my attitude. Nor do I expect them to tip me when I have that good roll! Give me "way to go, fella" or a high five. I will have made my money on the roll myself.

The question of how to tip has always been a murky area. When is easy - every so often, win or lose, and cashing out. But it always seemed to me that the dealers might prefer the cash rather than "get in to the game". It bugs me to see that a bet I made for them ("dealers on the line") goes down, despite the "thanks for the play" that I get when it does.

As long as you're tipping the dealers too, it's ok. I've seen players tip the shooter, who was making bets and stiff the dealers.

Pass line with odds is best, place bets is second best. Hardways and other proposition bets are 3rd. If none of them are hitting, a hand in when you're done playing is alway appreciated.

One of my favorite players would announce after he got his money back that the next roll would be for the dealers or cocktail waitress and whatever the payoff would be we or she would get the chips.

So what your saying is the dealers want to be in the game.

Can you tell us how the tips are spit up? I have heard that on a ship all tips are split between all dealers. Do you, or anyone know if this is true?

Do you think 10% on cash out is a decent tip? Just askin.

Yes, we want to be in the game, or handed a tip directly, what I'm saying is we want your money.

All I can tell you is how they are split at the casinos where I have worked. At most of them the "dealer's day" runs from 4:00 am Day 1 - 4:00 am Day 2. And all tips are split evenly according to how many hours a dealer worked that day. 1 casino where I worked the tips were split for the whole week, this eliminates missing out on days when tips were high.

I would assume on a cruise ship the tips are split according to how many hours a dealer worked that day.

Is 10% on cashing out a good enough tip, well, that all depends. Did you buy in for $1,000 play for 6 hours, need constant reminders that your hardways and C & E went down and at the end have $33 left? Then $3.30 is a MAJOR insult. Or did you cash out $22,500?? Then the $2,250 is a pretty nice tip. A few place bets or hardways while the table is hot are always appreciated.

When I play I plan on tipping either 15% of what I buy in or 15% of my winnings, whichever is the bigger amount. For example this morning I bought in for $300 played for about 15 minutes, cashed out $680. I played $32 across for the dealers, first roll after bet was placed was a 7. Then offered $30 with the option of that being a bet or a hand-in, the dealers chose the hand-in. The $62 was just over 20% of my buy-in and more than 15% of my winnings.

Well boys, just recently off the Destiny 4 day trip. First two days were devestating at the craps table. No matter which way i went it did not work. Roll a point and seven out in maybe two or three rolls. Tried the dark side with no pass the dude rolls a 4. Add the odds and guess what . He rolls a 4 on the first roll. Then he rolls sixes and eights. Couldn't win either way. The third day was much improved. The fourth and last day were a dice mans dream. While i was at the slot tournament (which i won for $500 big ones) the table went wild. Couldn't even get close to it. There were three rollers in a row that lasted for at least a half hour each. Eventually the table thinned out, got a spot at the hook and i had a nice roll. Cashed out$ 850. Went to dinner and back to the table and played until 2 AM ( DW called it a night). Was without a doubt the BEST table i have been at in years. :D Just hope that i can duplicate it on the 4 day Sensation in Sept. and the 8 day Miracle in December.:)

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO evergladesgator: Congrats on your winning the slot tournament. Also congrats on your good rolls of the dice. Hope you will be able to duplicate your good fortune whenever you step to a craps table. Just remember, it is different every time you step to the table. By the way, it is not unheard of for a player to experience an extended period of good luck or bad luck.

CP , thanks. I go to the table with a positive attitude every time. This last time was more than expected. A ship on a stick was a nice move on their part. It said Slot Tournament Champion instead of the ships name. It was almost as exciting as a hot roll at the table with people chanting Go Joe, Go Joe, Go Joe. It was fun for a full five minutes and the 500 green ones was even more fun accepting from the casino host. Nice hat and tee shirt too. Everybody smileing and saying congradulations.:D:D:D Would have thought that they were the winner.

Sailing on the Fantasy in 8 days.

Also sailing is a fellow Craps player I met on the Fantasy last Sept. I learned quite a bit about Craps from this gent. Hope to learn more and have it be good fortune.

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO goldwinger88: First, good luck at the craps table. I hope you and this other fellow have some good rolls. However, you may experience fluctuations of the dice that may cost you too. Remember, a Monster roll is less common than just getting to roll five numbers.

Hello all, congrats and good wishes all around... You have me looking forward to paying more attention at the craps table in the future!

Wondering what luck you have had at the casinos in Nassau, if any. I read the casino aboard Monarch of the Seas is "small and smoky" and hoping to get a little time to get to a land-based casino this weekend. Anyone have any experiences to share at Crystal Palace or Atlantis? Would love to hear your stories... Thanks & Happy Sailing to all.

We were there in Jan. on the Imagination. The craps table is $25 min bets. I happened to get lucky only going in for a 100 bucks. 25 pass line with 30 odds and the shooter rools 4 nines in a row and then rolled for maybe 5 minutes. I grabbed my chips and ran when he sevened out. Also had luck at the video poker and Platinum slots whih were $3 a hit. Have fun and take the water taxi. Also enjoy the $15 slice of pizza.:)

HHHHHEEEEELLLLLLLLLLOOOOO FloridaPatriot: Although we have been to Nassau several times, never been inside any of the Casinos. Went to the one in Freeport though. When the Isle of Capri owned it, it was nice. Never played on the craps table though. They had two tables. None was ever opened when I was there. Have a good trip and let us know what you played and what the results were.

Travelling on RCI Freedom of the Seas next month. Hoping to have some good runs at the craps table, although with single odds it might limit my play a bit as 3-4-5x is what the land-based casinos near me offer. Anyone recently been on the Freedom and if so, how is the action at the craps table? Last cruise I sailed on X, the craps table was dead and closed more often than it was open. And even when open, it was only a player or two at best.

They have several tables at Atlantis. They have $10, $15, and $25 tables. When I was there they only had one $15 table open.

At cable beach. They have only $25 tables. But you can play electronic craps for $1 minimum there.

As stated when we were there in January, they had two craps tables open. BOTH at $25.00. Normally far above my pocket. But not having been there in awhile, i went in for a 100 bucks and got lucky. Could be in the height of tourist season they jack up the minimums.

Did Craps at Atlantis last May when sailing on the Carnival Glory. Ran into a fellow passenger (Chuck) at the table along with a drunk Russian who had pissed off the dealers so badly with his blowing cigarette smoke in their faces and being obnoxious. They took it out on me and Chuck. I lost my $100 within a short time and hauled butt back to the ship.

Won't do Atlantis anymore.

No one likes smoke being blown in their face. But, how exactly did they take it out on you? Did the stickman call "Seven out" when a Hard 8 rolled? Or did you just hit the table at a bad time?
