Help we are leaving Friday for Fort lauderdale, need hotel

We are looking for a clean enough, nice enough, hotel for the 18 hours or so we will be in it!

Didn't have any success on Priceline.

We were even sure we would be able to go on this cruise due to family complications. Decided last night to go for it.

We would prefer downtown for the activities, etc. available.

Don't want to spend a fortune. Would prefer the $100-175, including taxes, range.

Where have you stayed, what do you recommend?

We stayed at the Hyatt Pier 66 for $95.00 per night from Priceline. Great hotel with pools, jacuzzi, spinning rooftop lounge and gorgeous, huge property. Was a great deal. Is in the beach zone only because it is on the other side of the intercoastal.

I recommend the Mariott Harbor Beach. Their website is:

They are located right on a great beach, have a great pool, several bars and restaurants, etc. Price will vary depending on the time of year that you stay. I got it in June last year for $83/night. It is located 10 minutes from Port Everglades.

It is not the cheapest but if you like the beach and pool this place is hard to beat. The only thing that tops it in Lauderdale is the Lago Mar.

Hi:) The hotels along 17th Street are all very nice.

I booked a room over a month ago (close to 6 weeks) for Friday night too~Got a room at Amerisuites on Hotwire for 85.00 (that includes tax).

The other hotels along 17th Street are Embassy Suites, Renassiance, Hyatt Pier 66 and Marriott Marina (to name a few). There is also A Holiday Inn Express.

Good luck to you:) My best suggestion would be to call the hotels directly since this is such short notice.

By "downtown" do you really mean DOWNTOWN, or do you mean SE 17th Street???

If you truly mean downtown Ft. Lauderdale there's a new Hampton Inn that's quite inexpensive and is less than a year old...

If you mean SE 17th Street near the port there are many, as have been listed above, you should call them all at this point as it may be very hard to find anything so late.

Thanks for all your replies. We had already tried priceline. I was unable to get my bids accepted and was unable to rebid due to time constraints. I used betterbidding.com, biddingfortravel.com and biddingfun.com for information on bidding. In the end, the night before we left, I was successful in getting a room using Hotwire. Using the hints on biddingfun.com I was able to get a room at The Hyatt Pier 66. I did have to pay more than I wanted, but, I did better than I would have ended up paying otherwise. How can I complain!
