Seapass Card and Back to Back Cruises

Recommended Posts

My husband and I are planning our first back to back cruise. Our question is: What is the procedure for getting the Seapass card for the second cruise? Do we need to go through the entire boarding process again? Do we need to have another Setsail Pass? We are staying on the same ship and in the same cabin for both cruises.

Thanks so much!

The process varies by ship and port. At Port Canaveral, you are escorted off the first cruise, through customs, handed new SeaPass cards, and are free to re-board immediately. If you wish to leave the terminal to shop for instance, then you must wait to re-board with all the new guests for the second cruise.

We have not needed a second SetSail pass, but I've always had it just in case. You do need to fill out the on-line check-in information for the second cruise, but I've not had anyone ask me for the second SetSail pass.

I've always printed our second sea pass also and DID need it on one cruise. It surprised some B2Bers who did not think they would need it. Of course they were still able to check in, but it took them a little longer.

Our other B2Bs have been very easy, on one, they delivered our cards to our room the night before and we had to do NOTHING!:D

We are also planning a B2B on Serenade in October. We will become Diamond after the first 7 night cruise (only need 4 more days at sea). Will we be able to get Diamond benefits on the 2nd 7 night cruise? They are both booked with seperate booking numbers. Does anyone know if we can get the diamond balcony discount as OBC?

Thanks!

As has been mentioned before no two ships use exactly the same procedures. But they are similiar and usually have a short disruption before you have full access to all of the ship's facilities again.

My experience is that the two cruises are handled as 2 separate cruises. One cruise ends and another begins. So you close out the tab on the first cruise and paper work for your second cruise has to be done. Generally that means a new seapass for your new charges. Also all passengers including the group of B2B'ers must get off of the ship (with photo ID's/Passports Setsail Pass) before port authories will allow boarding for the next cruise. Somewhere during this process a ship's staff personnel will give everyone their new SeaPass card that you use to get back on board ship. They do not take your old Seapass card away from you.

I have no experience with this. I know RCL will not do anything until you have completed your first cruise. I know you can talk to the LA about your status and coupon book while on board and they will honor it. That may be to late for them to help you with your OBC. So for the OBC question I would call a RCI concierge now.

Disembarking the ship between cruises depends on the port. If you are doing a consecutive cruise out of a foreign port, you do not get off the ship on turnaround day.......example, San Juan. You have a meeting the day before giving you all the details of what to expect. You are given your SeaPass cards the morning of turnaround day when you all meet in a assigned location.

If you do leave the ship, you are given a slip that says "in transit" because, technically you are still on the ship.....you are not going home.

You normally do not have to go through Customs & Immigration after the first cruise because you are "in transit". So one Customs Form for both cruises.

You do not normally need your SetSail Pass because if online information was filled in correctly, everything is transferred from the first cruise to the second cruise including photo and cc information.

Thank you, all, for your responses. The San Juan information is particularly helpful since that's the port we'll be using. I appreciate the information!

We just did a B2B on Adventure out of San Juan. We did not go to the meeting the day before, we were doing something else. We received our Sea Pass Cards (they were in an envelope on our bed) the last night of the cruise and later that night the cabin steward left the white "in transit cards" on our bed. The only issue we had when we left the ship was that we were told that since we were in transit there was no need to fill in the US Immigration blue form. We were questioned at Immigration when we got off with our DS and DIL since they were going home after the first week. We told the immigration official that we were told we didn't need to fill in the form, just show our cards which we did. then at the next attendant before you leave the terminal it was the same question, we said the same thing about being told not to fill in the card and just show the white in transit card and they let us through.

Now getting back on the ship was almost no fun. We looked for the b2b line, like there usually is at most ports. We asked one of the RCI people outside and he told us to get in line. We started looking for someone else who may know something and then the same guy came back and took us up to the front of the huge line and we were allowed right into the security line after showing our cards and passports.

No pictures taken but be prepared when you get off the ship they put in your old card and the machine makes an ungodly noise, then it does it again when they put in your new card, it took a few minutes for them to do our cards, but we didn't have any problems other than the same awful noise one time when we reboarded.

The only thing we found was pretty idiotic was being scanned and checked when you first come into the terminal and then scanned and checked again when you get on the ship. Seemed like a make work project. But the whole B2B process was pretty painless. We have done other b2b's where a nice lunch was served in Portofinos. The lunch on the Adventure (we were ashore shopping with the kids and an early dinner/late lunch at Barrachina:D) was in the dining room and we were told by other passengers we knew that it wasn't anything special. So glad we went to Barrachina. I highly reccommend the Chicken Nachos, Chicken and Steak Fajitas and high test pina coladas Muy Beuno.

Enjoy your cruise. Our two weeks was sooooo good we didn't want to go home:D
