Alcohol prices on Dawn Princess in Australian waters

Recommended Posts

What is different and higher are the prices in the boutiques and shops on board. Bijoux Ternier is twice what it is on other ships - $20 AUD vs. $10 USD – liquor prices are significantly higher, and cigarettes are 2 cartons for $100 AUD (which makes me all the more glad I quit years ago!) However, the wine list is better and cheaper with more and better wines on offer at the $25-35 range than I’ve seen on other Princess ships. Coffee cards are $33, also more than on the USD based ships.

Maybe Princess Cruises set the prices in AUD when the Aussie dollar was worth only a bit more than half the US dollar. Now that the currencies are comparable in value, it would be reasonable for the on-board prices to be adjusted accordingly. :)

Speaking of prices, what is the cost of a bottle of Yellow Tail Shiraz-Cabernet in a supermarket or wine store before boarding a ship in Sidney? In the USA, it is $5.99 so I am wonder if it is the same price or cheaper since it is an Aussie brand. On the other hand, does Australia make a Malbec?

Have a look at these sites: Not necessarily available near the port but prices are indicative;

and yes Malbec is produced in OZ...although somewhat limited
