I too would like to know what is worth doing in this port. We will be beached out by then as it comes at the end of our Caribbean Princess cruise. Anybody have an opinion on the Butterfly Farm or the Semi-Sub. tour?

We've been to Marigot and the beach in St. Martin and are looking at going to the Butterfly farm too. Does anyone know if you can get a taxi to the Butterfly farm and then back to the beach there in Phillipsburg.

I know what you mean about the beach. We also live at the beach and we are always looking for non-beach things to do when we are in port on cruises.

While we were driving from Phillipsburg to Orient Beach we noticed the butterfly farm and decided to stop though we had not been planning to. It actually turned out to be a very interesting place to go to.

There is a fort up above Marigot which doesn't have a lot to explore but the views from up there are very nice and Marigot is a nice town to walk around in.

You could stop at Maho beach. Not so much for the beach but watching the planes land and take off really is pretty cool. And this could be your only chance to get sandblasted by a 747 getting ready to take off.

Since we live in a coastal Florida town, we see enough beaches--we want to see something different, also. Last time in St. M. we rented a car (about $50- for the day) and drove all over the island. We much preferred the French side, and enjoyed seeing the market and browsing through the shops. We ate at a restaurant and had pizza--French style, with bleu cheese (I didn't like it but hubby did, he loves old cheese). We got to use our high school/college French skills when walking around Marigot. Anyway, there is a lot of beautiful countryside, winding roads, and scenic views. Butterfly Farm and Loterie Farm are two great stops to make. Have fun!
