for whale watching in June?

I have only done the one out of Gloucester (near Boston) and we only saw one dead whale. So not a great experience.

We went on on whale watch trips when I was a kid, and then later on in private boats as an adult off of Deer Isle, MDI (bar harbor region). On a good day you see a ton of seals, maybe 10 humpbacks and dozens of Minke's. Pretty furtile area, that.

Right now, there is a huge number of right whales feeding off Cape Cod. Ships are being instructed to slow to (I think) 10 knots to do their best to avoid them.

 

You can never be assured seeing a whale no matter where you take the whale watch trip..... sometimes you get lucky and sometimes you don't. Most tour operators know where the best chances are of seeing them.

 

Try in Boston or Bar Harbor.

None of the canada stops have good whale watching - we searched for hours before the cruise to no avail!

Another plus is that it literally leaves right from the pier where the tenders land, couldn't be easier.

While I was researching a similar question on whale watching from Bar Harbor, I found this:

 

From late April through October, a number of cetacean species feed in the Gulf of Maine, including humpback, finback and minke whales. Later in the summer, around August, northern right whales arrive. All of the various kinds of whales remain off the Maine coast into October before they head out in search of warmer waters.

Was it worth the money to go through this company for whale watching....anything like lunch or snacks included..anyone done this group?

Anyone ever see whales from the cruise ship? We saw them in Alaska but I have never seen them out at sea anywhere else. We spend 90% of the time out on the promenade deck, is there a place I should be watching for them? Last year on our Canada New England trip we saw several dophins, it was so fun watching them play in the waves. We went the beginning of September last year. Thanks for the info.:)
