Calling UK during Panama canal cruise

Is it possible to purchase a calling card so that we can call home to UK while in ports in USA and Mexico?

I believe that Walgreens have one - can you enlighten me further?

Phone up your phone provider first and find their charges...you might be pleasently surprised. I'm on contract with O2 and get loads of free minutes and texts. Free minutes can't be used, but it was only about £1.50/min last year, so not to bad if you don't chat for long. Free texts were still honoured though, but at the rate of 4 free texts for one international text, so text non urgent messages if like me, you normally only use a few of your free entitlement.

I have looked at my Talk Mobile contract now and calls are not the way to go, but texting is as you state the best option.:)
