Transportation for hire from ports?

Our family group of 8 is arriving at ports in Barcelona, Alicante, Vigo, Palma De Mallorca and Lisbon. We prefer not to be limited to the ship's excursion offerings, so would love to book an English speaking driver and van for the day. We have done this in Carribean and Mexican ports for very reasonable costs. There were plenty of drivers for hire waiting at the ports. I realize the situation may be completely different in Europe. Anyone have any info/ experience with this, and an approximate cost? Thanks!

Just got back from Barcelona.

On two occasions we used Autos Vilar in Barcelona with members (6 of us each time) of our "roll call", when we were disembarking the ship.

In 2010, on our first visit to Barcelona we took a wonderful City Tour, where we were able to tailor it to what we wanted to see along with recommendations from Juan, our driver. We were able to spend plenty of time in Parc Guell (our choice) and we also had time to get out at other locations. None of us were in Barcelona before and it gave us a keen feel for the city.

This year we went to Monserrat after disembarking. We got off the ship early (self carried our luggage) and were able to beat the crowds that visit there each day, which allowed us more time to enjoy the monastary complex. Juan again was waiting for us at the ship and he guided us through the monastary. It was a great tour.

We shopped around and found that they had the best price. Juan speaks perfect English and his van (seats 8) is quite comfortable holding 6 with plenty of room for our luggage. Because it is too early to check-in to our hotels, the timing of this tour (when disembarking) is great. At the conclusion of the tour (each time), Juan dropped us off at our respective hotels, which also saves on a cab from the port. Then, we were able checked right in and start enjoying Barcelona on our own.

Their website is www.autosvilar.com I highly recommend Juan.

For our Barcelona City Tour, it was 55E per person. It really depends on how many people are on the tour with you and the season you're in Barcelona. Ask for a quote, they generally respond pretty quick.
