Ship's shore tours on Norfolk Is>??

Recommended Posts

Has anybody done any of these?? They seem to be VERY short - only 1&1/2 hours long???? I know the island isn't very big - but a shore tour of 1&1/2 hours would hardly be worth queueing up for.

The problem with Norfolk is actually getting ashore. The ship can anchor either side of the Island , from what I hear, but it still depends on how big the seas are on the day.

I have only heard of 1 ship making it ashore there so far.

The tours would probably be short ones , as the locals would not be used to handling 1,000 plus tourists in a day, so I guess they do 2 or 3 short ones to try and fit everyone in.

Hi David

Yes, I know that the chances of actually landing are low - and I can see that, as Norfolk is roughly circular, it is only around 2 klms (as the crow flies) from either of the landings to the centre of the island - so a walking day might be more in order than any kind of "tour"?? We walked 5 klms from the pier in Melbourne to St Kilda once - no problems for someone as fit as me (cough! Cough!)
