Palma de Mallorca

Recommended Posts

We are planning to use this port as a relaxing "down" day on our busy Med. cruise in Sept. I wonder, is it possible to walk into town from the port and if so what can we see there? We like to walk and are pretty fit so if anyone knows of any interesting sights or activities please advise. Is it possible to walk to a nice beach. I'd love to go to a beautiful resort beach for the morning-is there anything like that there?

Thanks!

Yes, we find it no problem walking into the city from the port- it's about a mile, but flat all the way. If you stay on the sea side, you should see all the classy yachts in the harbour. The other side of the very busy road has hotels and shops.

There will be a shuttle bus, which will park below the cathedral, then it's a short walk up hill into the main squares with all the shops. The cathedral is a gem.

If you continue walking on the sea side past the bus park, you'll come to the city beach, which is for swimming and sunbathing only- no water sports.

If you want a livelier beach, take a bus or taxi to Palma Nova beach (east), or Illetas (west...that's the nearest to the port, but it's not easy walking by the busy road).

Straight ahead, and up a hill out of the harbour, is the castle, where you'll get super views.

Try Googling some of these places, then you can see what will suit you.

Enjoy!

Jo.

Which castle is this, the Bellver Castle? I was trying to figure out how to get there.
