Daytime cruising

We have just had our first river cruise on the Douro and absolutely adored the experience particularly as we cruised in the day and could really appreciate the beautiful scenery.

Now the question is which other cruises,if any, cruise in the day and not like sea cruises when you wake up in different place every day.

Any advice would be very welcome.

thanks

Brett

We've had daytime cruising of scenic parts of the river on the Rhine and Danube in Europe, the Yangtze and Li Rivers in China, the Volga-Baltic Waterway in Russia, and the Nile in Egypt. All were wonderful experiences!:)

As pjtraveller suggests, each itinerary usually has sections where daytime cruising is especially beautiful; at other times the ship may travel at night.

The only way of assessing the times and location of the night or day passages would be through a thorough review of the itinerary. If unfamiliar with the river valley and its sites, I think you have to count on the cruise lines to make wise decisions.

We are probably a little eccentric in enjoying passing farmland, in the Netherlands and on the Main, as much as we appreciate the castles of the Rhine. Therefore our choice of itinerary may also reflect those personal tastes.
