200% deposit on suites

We recently booked a sky suite on Century for 2012. Our confirmation states that a 200% deposit is required. This is almost half of the total cost of our cruise!!

Is this something new?

We had a suite on the Equinox in 2009, and paid the regular deposit.

I'm not happy about this.

It's not all that new -- has been policy for a couple of years at least. Apparently there were too many people who booked suites "on spec" so to speak, and this way X feels like only serious cruisers will reserve the suites.

When they changed the price drop policy we stopped booking ahead of time. For our upcoming cruise in a sky suite we had to pay the full amount at time of booking.
