For sheer beauty of a city, you cannot beat Quebec City. Thanks to high water we had to spend two nights there on the Maasdam's first cruise of the season. We found Montreal to be a lot like any other big city, but Quebec City is the crown jewel of the cruise.

I think there maybe a break coming as our cool rain is ending by the weekend and we have been shipping it north for a while :o..

Kirk

Please Kirk, enough, we do not want anymore rain; however it's still in the forecast for the next week with a cpl. of days of possible sun. Sun, what is that ?? Last week outside os one of the church's in the area they had a large sign " whoever is praying for rain, please stop" . I think we all now need to pray for it to stop. The farmers can not get onto their fields as they are saturated with water. Even the fishermen are complaining about haveing to go out everyday in the rain, to haul in their traps of lobsters., and we all want our lobsters.

Keep on smileing and thinking positive. Helen :)

All this talk about rain and cold prompts the question - does the Maasdam have a retractable roof over their main pool? If so, is it warm enough to swim when the dome is closed?

Yes, the Maasdam has a retractable dome over the Lido pool. The Prinsendam is the only HAL ship without such a cover.

It will be plenty warm enough for kids to swim. Sometimes it actually gets too hot in there without the dome opened at least a bit.

Oh, by the end of May it should start to warm up in New England. The danger of frost is officially over on Memorial Day weekend.
