I have returned unused camera to Adorama without a problem. They did charge me for their shipping cost.

 

The only place that I have reurned a camera after using it for a day or two is Costco. The have a very liberal return policy.

Why do you prefer paypal? I always use a credit card where I get points which I use for airline awards. Additionally, Am Ex doubles the manufacturers warranty. I have also seen posts from those who were not protected by using paypal.

The last question would be whether or not to purchase a warranty. I know they tell you not to waste your money. I had never had a camera break until my D60 stopped working. Luckily it was a gift and my DH purchased a 4 year warranty from Best Buy. They covered the shipping, and the cost to repair would have been greater than what he paid for the protection.

They sell a 2 year plan for $44.99 and a 3 year plan for $66.95. I probably won't bother, but does anyone know anything about them? Two things to consider:

 

1) I think your P7000 comes with an external charger (unlike the S9100!) & therefore you probably don't need to buy an extra charger! (save a few$$)

2) The Nikon extended warranty looks cheaper & better than the aftermarket...but I'm not sure about any of them! Buyer beware!

I think Adorama sells the same Nikon warranty, a little cheaper. The Nikon warranty gives you 3 years coverage for $20 or less.

 

(But read the fine print....I think the Nikon extended HAS to be registered within 10 days of CAMERA purchase!)

Both of them have belt loops, and the Think Tank - while it may not be padded enough for your liking - can be attached to a camera bag.

 

I also found thata LowePro Apex 60 AW fits very nicely as well, and it also has a belt strap.

 

All three of the cases also allow the use of a neck strap. You could even buy another set of those Op/Tech adapters and use your camera strap to hold the case, and then when you remove the camera out of the case, transfer the strap to the camera.

In my state - if you make 3 claims on your homeowners policy, it is a mandatory cancellation - state law. Gotta love insurance industry lobbyists; oh wait - it's for our benefit. Yea - right.

 

At any rate, there is usually a deductible for homeowners policy; $500 or $1,000 is not untypical.

 

A personal property policy - at least mine - has no deductible, and I won't take a hit against my 3-count on my homeowner's policy should I have a claim.

 

Just another avenue to think of.

I live in a Condo, unfortunately in the PH and there is always some leak. The condo has to fix the leak but homeowner responsible for interior repair. My policy covers damage caused by "wind driven rain"

Thank you for reminding me. I totally forgot about a neck strap! I don't think the one I use on my Fujifilm will be sufficient. Does Nikon make a strap for the camera? I never looked to see where these would hook.

 

Maybe I would prefer the same Tamrac case in a larger size?. It is in a small Tamrac case that fits the camera, battery and memory card, and the strap fits inside.

 

I think this is the one my fujifilm is in. Perhaps they make it larger to fit the p7000.

I should have stated that the P7000 does come with a neck strap, but it's the standard Nikon one. I prefer aftermarket neck straps with a little padding.

This is the Tamrac 5689 I sometimes use. You can see how if fits a Canon G12, which is just a tiny bit larger than the P7000 - but for all practical purposes, I would classify them as the same size:

 

 

And my preferred pouch for the P7000; the Think Tank "Modular Pouch". Even though the pouch doesn't have as much padding, it's smaller, and I pack it inside a larger camera bag anyway, so that the small size helps. And I do like the 3 way attachment it has (belt loop, backpack strap loop, and neck strap). It also has it's own little rain cover:

Tamrac's 5217 is the next size larger in your style pouch. You will have to determine if it is large enough for the P7000. If not, you can go up another size or three. Look for the button on the page that allows you go select the next size smaller or larger pouch.

If you refer to Tamrac's "will it fit"? charts, you won't find the P7000 on there (they need to update their charts). But if you look for the Canon G11 (predecessor to the G12), it is essentially the same size as the P7000 - so if it will fit the G11, it should fit the P7000.

Also the LowePro Apex 60 is not as large as it looks. It actually measures 4.25w x 5.5h x 3d at it's deepest. It also has a rain cover.

 

 

 

Here are the three pouches I have. The Tamrac 5689 to the left, the LowePro Apex 60AW in the center, and the Think Tank "Modular Pouch" to the right.

 

The main difference between the LowePro and the other two is it is a bit thicker. You can put a spare battery in the front compartment, something you would be hard pressed to do with the other two.

 

 

 

There is a divider flap and the P7000 just fits in the rear compartment, and there is room for a spare battery in the front. There is a compartment for SDHC cards as well. The Tamrac has a compartment in the front for SDHC cards, but the Think Tank does not.

 

The LowePro and Think Tank have rain covers, but the Tamrac does not.

 

The Tamrac can only be used with a belt; both the LowePro and Think Tank have several attachment options, but they all can use a neck strap. The Tamrac and LowePro come with neck straps for the pouch, and while the Think Tank has loops for one, it does not come with a neck strap.

 

Anyway, hopefully this gives you some insite as to at least three pouches that will fit the P7000. There are certainly other pouches out there as well.
