3rd & 4th passenger rate

Recommended Posts

Is there a way to see the actual 3rd & 4th passenger rate online?

I don't want an average of the 3.

Thanks! :)

.....but you can go to one of the other famous online booking sites and they will show you the additional passenger rate.

Does anyone remember Kathleen Turner's line out of "Peggy Sue got Married" where she tells her high school algebra teacher that she knows from experience she will never use this again? Well she was wrong. Most people use it daily without even realizing it.

The base equation in algebra is A + B = C. For figuring out the 3rd and 4th rate, where A is the total for 2 passengers and B is the amount for additional passenger(s) and C is the stateroom total. Solve for B. The equation now becomes C - A = B or Total stateroom cost - stateroom cost for 2 = cost for additional passengers.

Example: Cost of balcony state room for 2(A) is $1268. Cost for stateroom for 3© is $1517. $1517© - $1268(A) = $249(B). 3rd passenger rate is $249. Cost of stateroom for 4© is $1766. $1766© - $1268(A) = $498(B); but B is now for both 3rd and 4th passenger. So divide B by 2. $498/2 = $249. 3rd and 4th passenger rate is still $249. Passenger 1 and 2 are $634 pp and Passenger 3 and 4 are $249 pp.

Yes, it is easier to use alternate sites for showing the 3rd/4th passenger rates. But one can still easily figure it out from Carnivals site by doing a fake booking for 2 and then one for 3 or 4. Some of you might think this too much effort....but it is what it is - math.

.....but going to the alternate sites you can see the difference in price between categories and don't have to figure them all out. I still don't understand if the cabin is paid for by passengers 1 & 2, why the extra passengers would would not be the same price across all categories.

For my upcoming cruise, the extra passenger price was the same for Inside, Oceanview and Balcony, but for an Ocean Suite it was $50 more pp. That's what I don't understand.

YES! Just go to the Carnival page online and go through the process of booking the cruise for the sailing you want. You will go through about a half dozen pages entering info, including the info for all of the passengers going. After that, you get a page asking about dining time wanted, and finally you get to the Payment Info page. On this page, the rate is broken down for each person going. Good luck!
