If you could change anything about Carnival?

Let's go somewhere other than Cozumel on the Western Caribbean cruise. I'm not a shopper and I have not gotten off the ship at Cozumel for 4 cruises now. I'm not saying that we have to get rid of the port, just offer an alternative every other week or so.

Texas34, I find it offensive on a cruise in the MDR to see one eat ribs/fried chicken to see people pick up their food with their hands, licking their fingers with the bbq sauce and grease all over their hands. Its not a nice thing to see and you certainly can't help not catching it as people are at the table dining with you, just can't ignore it. I not want to be in a bono's, woody's bbq or popeyes/kfs fried chicken type atmosphere.

I also can't see using your cloth napkin wiping all the bbq sauce and grease on it to go back into your laps lol and then there be the issue does Carnival offer a second/third cloth napkin (try getting those stains out lol) or will they serve you paper napkins for these items?

Nbsjcruiser you understand what I mean thank you! I would much rather pay more for better food! Im with you!

I also like to see different items be added to foods available after 10 pm, its just hot dogs, burgers, fries and pizza, I cannot have gluten even still I am sure others would like to see other items offered, I say offer cheese platter, fruit, salad also! They not hard to make up and keep up with.

Add munchies to the bars! Carnival has none other cruise lines offer you munchies.

Control the Kids!!!! Give us adults and adult only area!!!!!!!

The kids run amook.....disrespectful, hog the elevators, the hot tubs, even the "Adult Pool"

I have only been on one cruise and it was with Carnival, it was good, but the kids problem ruined a lot of it.

Line cutters, loud, running around, using the elevators as entertainment.

It can be done. There were several additional items offered when Sixthman chartered the Inspiration in April for the "VH1 Best Cruise Ever 2011". This was at about 1 or 2 AM (and they were serving until 3)!

The PULLED PORK sandwiches were VERY tasty. Either that or I was VERY hungry (methinks BOTH)!! :D

Getting on and off the two Carnival cruises we have taken was awful. Hours of waiting, non-existant announcements ( or unintelligable), and keeping those who follow the few directions there are, waiting for a few people who won't or can't follow directions is wrong. Delays, Delays, Delays. Our first boarding with them took over NINE hours. Another time, one Full port day was reduced to only a couple of hours because their tendering process is so bad. Also, IF they are going to overnight in port (Honolulu specifically) make arrangements with the port to have legal parking available for those who may rent cars. We had to deboard at 3:00am to aviod being ticketed. What a scam! Hate it!

I use to take cruise on carnival I had to change them to Royal Caribbean because their smoking policy. The smoky would make me very sick because I have asthma. To change their smoking policy like Royal Caribbean has their then I would take carnival again. I understand smoking is a bad habit to break.

Interesting thread!

I have loved each of my Carnival cruises, but I chose to go with NCL at a comparable price, and comparable itinerary next time because I wanted a change in the entertainment and menus. I like going to the shows, but I haven't seen a new show in the last 4 cruises and even all the cruise directors make the same jokes in every welcome aboard talk - did you hear about the lady with the new hat out on Lido deck?

It's not a big enough deal to make me switch to a more expensive line, but when I have several real bargains to consider, I'm willing to try someone else just for a little variety.

TJSFW I been on other cruise lines my experience is that there always are these misbehaved kids more on carnival than any other cruise line, even with RC larger newer ships with more things for the kids to do I not see hardly any of the behavior that you describe on RC mostly on Carnival. Maybe its because RC has more for kids keeps them more busy...who knows but I know what your talking about. Princess I never seen such behavior at all...odd....maybe because there are more parents that cruise on Carnival with children not sure.

I believe on RC the specialty restaurants have restrictions on childrens ages something in between 12-14 and under they cannot dine there, so this would make good sense.

I seen many kids in my life in stores, restaurants, malls, cruises, etc with that such very behavior and feel its the parents fault, there is no discipline....but then I also look and notice that many of the parents are kids themselves!

TOM-N-CHERYL wow you had pulled pork we didn't have anything but what I described on the Fascination last may....I would of taken the pulled pork and eat the pork without the roll! I need to ask others what is offered on the FAscination now after 10 pm thank you and thanks for the photo!

Yes - she was on the Valor a couple of weeks ago... and it was a WINDY day!

Well - that was the exception to the rule. The only reason they offered it was because Sixthman requested the stuff (along with the casino being open until 6 am, and the casino bar NEVER closing)! It was a full ship charter. All that Carnival is going to give you is the standard fare (dry burgers, hot dogs, etc..)!

I think that Carnival could learn a thing or two from them!!

Well this ought to be an interesting cruise coming up.

Booked the Paradise for late Nov 2011 thru the canal 14 day etc. Booked for the trip/destination not the ship. That plus the pricing and some of the reviews I had read elsewhere made it an sound like an interesting cruise.

Should be interesting, have 5 NCL, 1 Costa, 1 RCCL. Must admit the reviews on this page are a bit unsettling, I would never book a 3 or 4 day type cruise on any line, in fact anything 7 days or less would not be my cup a tea.

The joy of being retired!

So am hoping this longer cruise will turn out ok. Any body with a longer cruise experience on the Paradise have any comments?

Hang on, here we go!

Bring back Pacifico as a beer choice.

On the Valor I noticed that the two draft beers they offered had changed. Previously it was Heineken and Amstel Light (oddly, both Dutch beers). Now it's Heineken and Bud Light.

I was never a Heineken fan, but grew to like the Amstel Light. I am not a Bud Light fan, but I'm sure it works better than Amstel Light for MANY who sail on Carnival!

I've cruised on Carnival since 1985 and I've seen it rise from a mediocre party cruise line to one with excellent food, entertainment and service. After losing weight on a recent cruise to Alaska on the Spirit (food just wasn't appetizing), it's clearly going downhill. Since Gerry Cahill has taken over Carnival has insituted some positive changes (more Lido deck activities, Serenity area, toned down decor), and for the most part the crew and staff are still as effective and cheerful as ever, but for a veteran of Carnival, the cost cutting measures are going to hurt them. I've sailed in Europe, the Caribbean, California Coast and Alaska in the past two years on Carnival and it's not just isolated instances - it's definitely a downward trend. Even diehards like me will leave for other lines, as I plan to do after using my Milestone reward cruise. My question is, as I haven't sailed on other Carnival Corp. lines, is the same true for Princess, HAL, etc?

I can't say -- though they do themselves a disservice by not having some type of transfer of loyalty status between lines under their corporate umbrella. That is one reason that when we did branch out, it was intentionally NOT within the corporation!

I like the fact that our "elite" status now with Celebrity does count for something if/when we try Royal again. Granted, being given an honorary "Diamond" status there does not carry the weight that I understand it used to - but at least it's SOMETHING!!

Interior decor. Definitely the decor. Yes, I know, such a thing shouldn't be so awful to us to turn us away from Carnival, but it has! The last Carnival ship we were on, the Spirit -- garish, clashing colors, way too bright lights, "Las Vegas on the Cheap" is the way my husband described it. Coupled with too many loud public announcements for nothing of real importance --for activities that people could find in their daily newsletters if they'd bother to read them.

It's a shame, because we had terrific food; the handicap-accessible cabin (I use a wheelchair) was one of the most spacious and best-laid-out that we've been on; the crew and staff were most accommodating...

but we felt like we needed sunglasses and earplugs whenever we were in the public areas. Not at all fun.

Boy I am with you all the way - they need to spend some money and update most of the interiors of their ships - if it wasn't for the good prices and itineraries I desire I wouldn't even consider any Carnival cruise (I haven't been on any newer ships, I hope they are a little more tasteful!!) I also dislike the dining rooms in the middle of the ship - makes for a convoluted trip anywhere on the ship.

Carnival should go back to giving us SOLO CRUISERS a discount like they did in the previous years.

Management should own up to their booking mistakes. They make many mistakes but they never admit to them. I end up having to forgive them.

They should let us be able to do a "name change" on the Early Saver since most of us have had the experience of friends and family members changing their minds about not going on a cruise. For example: I paid for a relative to cruise with me and he can't cruise with me and I can't do a name change to invite another friend to cruise with me. I end up cruising solo.

interesting...i was told that i could not do a name change on my early saver but was able to cancel her (with a penalty) and book a new cruise partner...the penalty was $150, but she was given a $100 credit on a cruise within 2 years, so i am okay with that

Was this a 7 day cruise because we did a cancellation in our group and it was only a $50 penalty with $200 in credit.

I was going to say the smoking policy... but it looks like they are making good moves there. The only other thing was the scantily clad dancers. You can entertain and dance quite well with a little more clothing on. Then I could at least take my kids to a few shows.

I would not change anything. . . because you get what you pay for. What you get is exactally the product you are paying for. . . EconoLodge

If you want better food

If you want real music

If you want people to dress better

If

If

If

Sail on another cruise line

Carnival owns most of them ---It is like General Motors - you can buy your choice:

the Cadillac Escalade Platinum or the Chevy Aveo

It is your money, spend it wisely.

While I agree with your points ,and maybe this is nitpicking, I don't agree with EconoLodge as a comparative.Hampton Inn perhaps.
